The role, at a glance.
Alma is hiring a React Native Mobile Engineer to join one of two consumer-app squads focused on wallet payments or consumer engagement. The engineer will build and release mobile features end to end, including payment integrations, card management, biometric authentication and secure storage. The role requires at least three years of React Native and TypeScript experience, production releases for both iOS and Android, and a strong quality mindset. The engineer will partner closely with product, design and back-end colleagues while contributing to architecture, tooling and release-process decisions. This is a permanent, fully remote role restricted to Metropolitan France.

Sample interview questions
I would explain how I clarified the user flow and acceptance criteria, designed the component and state architecture, coordinated API requirements with backend engineers, added automated tests, and monitored the feature after release. I would include outcomes such as adoption, error-rate reduction, or improved performance.
I would first review the provider’s mobile and security requirements, then isolate the integration behind a well-defined service layer. I would use native modules or supported SDK bindings where appropriate, avoid handling sensitive card data directly, implement resilient error and cancellation flows, and validate the integration with sandbox and production observability.
I use clear module boundaries, typed API contracts, focused code reviews, unit and integration tests, and end-to-end coverage for critical user journeys. I also establish crash reporting, performance monitoring, release checks, and a disciplined process for investigating regressions.
I would reproduce and measure the issue using profiling tools and production telemetry, then determine whether it comes from rendering, network activity, state updates, images, animations, or native bridges. After making a targeted change, I would validate the improvement on representative devices and monitor the relevant metrics after release.
I frame the discussion around user impact, delivery risk, security, and maintainability rather than personal preference. I bring concrete alternatives and trade-offs, listen to the constraints of each discipline, and work toward a documented decision that the team can execute confidently.
About this role.
🧡 About Alma
At Alma, we believe sustainable commerce depends on fair, well‑balanced trade. Because finance plays a pivotal role in business, our mission is to put it back in its rightful place – serving merchants and consumers. Our installment and deferred payment solutions help merchants boost sales by 20% or more, increase customer loyalty, and deliver a seamless shopping experience – without encouraging bad debt. As the buy now pay later leader in France and active in 10 European countries, we’ve empowered over +25,000 merchants and 10 million consumers. With 400+ Almakers and €100M+ ARR, Alma is scaling rapidly across Europe as a member of the Next40, and we’re just getting started!
👐 About the team
The Consumer Tribe builds the Alma app for consumers. To tackle more topics and accelerate the development of the consumer experience, the current Consumer squad is splitting into two dedicated squads: Alma Wallet and Consumer Engagement.
Alma Wallet builds the payment experience of the app. With the Alma card, consumers can pay with Alma anywhere, not only at our partner merchants. In the app, they can manage their payments using Apple Pay, Google Pay or local payment methods. By taking Alma beyond our merchant network, the Alma card is one of the company’s key strategic bets.
Consumer Engagement drives consumer activation, engagement and long-term retention by helping people get more value from Alma. The team builds experiences that make it easier for consumers to discover partner merchants, benefit from loyalty and cashback rewards, and manage their account independently.
In 2027, the focus is on turning Alma into a more engaging, everyday consumer experience by strengthening loyalty, increasing repeat usage and making Consumer Engagement a key driver of Alma’s long-term growth.
This is a new position created as the consumer app organization splits into two squads to tackle more topics. You will join one of these squads and work closely with its Engineering Manager, Product Manager, Designer and back-end engineers. You will report to Gautier Labarre, Engineering Manager.
This position is a permanent contract (CDI), open to full remote from Metropolitan France.
