Sample interview questions
How would you develop a global procurement strategy for wool materials?

I would begin by segmenting demand by product category, quality specification, volume, and seasonality. I would map qualified suppliers and processing capabilities, benchmark total landed cost, define dual-source options, and establish quality, sustainability, and service-level metrics. The strategy would include contracting and forward-buying approaches to reduce exposure to market volatility.

Describe how you would manage wool price volatility without compromising product quality.

I would combine market monitoring with demand forecasting, supplier intelligence, and scenario planning. Depending on the material and demand certainty, I would use forward commitments, indexed pricing, diversified sourcing, and approved material alternatives. Any cost action would be validated against quality specifications and customer-facing product requirements.

What factors would you use to evaluate a new wool supplier?

I would assess fiber quality and grading consistency, processing capabilities, traceability, ethical labor and environmental compliance, production capacity, lead times, financial stability, and commercial competitiveness. I would also conduct sample and bulk testing, review references, and establish a scorecard before allocating meaningful volume.

How would you create and maintain a wool materials library for product teams?

I would define standardized material data for each approved wool, including composition, grade, construction, performance attributes, test results, cost ranges, minimums, lead times, supplier details, and sustainability documentation. I would review the library regularly with product development and merchandising to remove underperforming options and introduce innovations aligned with assortment needs.

Give an example of how you would address recurring supplier quality issues.

I would first quantify the defect pattern through inspection data, product feedback, and specification review. Then I would lead a corrective-action process with the supplier, agree on measurable containment and prevention steps, and monitor results through tighter production controls. If performance did not improve, I would reduce allocation and activate qualified alternate sources to protect product availability.

From there, our teams design smart, efficient operational processes and build and deploy proprietary technology, AI, and analytics to help us scale fast.

OUR CULTURE

Quince is a culture built for builders by builders. Our way of working starts with a blank sheet of paper. We question conventional thinking, use technology and data to uncover new opportunities, and move quickly to turn ideas into reality. We aren’t interested in replicating how others do retail. We’re building a better way – at a speed and scale unlike anything that’s been done before.

  • We dream big and chase the hard problems others shy away from. Rejecting long-held assumptions is part of our company’s DNA. Where conventional wisdom says you have to choose – soft or durable, speed or rigor, quality or price – we ask why that trade-off has to exist in the first place.
  • Our pace is fast and the bar is high because our customers expect a lot from us and we refuse to let them down. We believe the best results come from challenging ourselves, learning from one another, and building on each other’s strengths.
  • Here, responsibility is not determined by role, tenure, or seniority. Every team member – no matter their level – has the opportunity to drive our business and shape our trajectory.

If you’re someone who likes to imagine new possibilities and build better systems rather than plug-in to outdated ones, Quince is the place for you.
