Sample interview questions
How would you create a community strategy for several EMEA markets with different levels of maturity?

I would segment markets by community health, growth potential, moderator coverage, and local cultural needs. For each segment, I would define a small set of measurable outcomes, test localized activation tactics, and turn validated learnings into a repeatable regional playbook.

Describe how you have used data to improve a community or marketing program.

I start by defining the outcome metrics, such as active contributors, retention, moderator response coverage, or quality signals. I combine quantitative trends with direct community feedback, identify the highest-impact friction point, run a controlled improvement, and report results with a clear recommendation for scaling or iteration.

How would you support and develop a distributed team of Community Specialists?

I would establish clear quarterly priorities, role ownership, operating rhythms, and success metrics, while leaving room for local expertise. Regular coaching, peer learning sessions, capacity reviews, and retrospective discussions would help the team improve delivery and share successful market approaches.

How do you influence Product or Engineering partners when community needs compete with other priorities?

I frame requests in terms of user impact, community-health risk, opportunity size, and evidence from local markets. I bring concrete examples and data, propose practical solutions or experiments, and align stakeholders on the smallest viable next step rather than treating the request as an all-or-nothing decision.

What would you do if an EMEA community initiative underperformed its targets?

I would review the original hypothesis, audience assumptions, execution quality, and leading indicators to determine whether the issue is targeting, messaging, product friction, or insufficient time to mature. I would share the findings transparently, adjust the experiment, and either retest with a focused change or discontinue the initiative and redirect resources to a stronger opportunity.
