The role, at a glance.
Cyware is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to build, secure, and operate AWS and AWS GovCloud infrastructure for commercial and government product environments. The role owns CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes and GitOps deployments, infrastructure as code, observability, incident response, and release reliability. A major focus is maintaining compliance with FedRAMP, GovRAMP, DoD IL5, and NIST 800-53 requirements across segmented environments. Candidates need substantial DevOps or SRE experience, including AWS GovCloud operations, Kubernetes, Terraform, and continuous compliance processes. This is a high-impact role on a lean cybersecurity startup engineering team and requires US citizenship and security-clearance eligibility.

Sample interview questions
I use version-controlled pipeline definitions, protected branches, peer-reviewed changes, artifact traceability, automated security checks, and clear separation between development, staging, and production. I also retain deployment and approval evidence so releases can be audited against applicable controls.
I have managed Kubernetes-based application deployments using Helm and GitOps workflows, including environment-specific configuration, release promotion, secrets handling, observability, scaling, and incident troubleshooting. In regulated environments, I prioritize hardened cluster configuration, least-privilege access, logging, and repeatable infrastructure provisioning.
I would define reusable infrastructure modules and baseline configurations, maintain environment-specific parameters in version control, and enforce changes through automated pipelines. Regular configuration validation, compliance evidence collection, and collaboration with Security and GRC help identify and remediate drift early.
I first stabilize customer impact through established runbooks and clear ownership, then collect logs, metrics, traces, and deployment history to isolate the issue. After restoration, I document the timeline, root cause, corrective actions, and preventive automation, ensuring the record meets operational and audit requirements.
I avoid storing secrets in source code or static pipeline configuration and use centralized secret-management services with short-lived credentials where possible. Access is enforced through least-privilege IAM roles, environment separation, approval controls for sensitive changes, audit logging, and periodic access reviews.
