Sample interview questions
I would begin with a discovery session to define business outcomes, decision use cases, available data, and market-specific privacy constraints. I would then align KPIs to a layered framework covering delivery, engagement, conversion, incrementality, and longer-term business impact, selecting appropriate methods such as lift testing, multi-touch attribution, or MMM. Finally, I would document assumptions, governance, reporting cadence, and an optimization plan with clear stakeholder ownership.
I explain that last-touch attribution gives all credit to the final interaction before conversion, which can undervalue upper-funnel media and earlier influential touchpoints. I use the client's campaign journey and examples from their channel mix to make the issue concrete. I then recommend complementary evidence, such as controlled experiments, multi-touch models, and MMM, while being transparent about each method's assumptions.
I would establish a consistent operating model with shared quality standards, measurement playbooks, and regular development coaching, while allowing local flexibility for market and regulatory differences. I would set clear priorities based on strategic account value, client impact, and scalability. I would also create strong feedback loops with sales, client services, product, and global analytics teams.
I would first assess data quality, coverage, identifiers, consent status, and the specific decision the client needs to make. I would clearly communicate what can be answered reliably now, identify data gaps, and propose a phased approach that may include a practical interim dashboard or test plan. The longer-term solution would include a data-improvement roadmap and validation criteria before making high-confidence attribution claims.
I would align both groups around the client outcome and distinguish between validated findings, directional insights, and hypotheses to test. I would help sales present a compelling narrative that accurately represents the evidence and avoids overstating causality. Where uncertainty remains, I would position a structured measurement plan as part of the value proposition rather than treating it as a limitation.
