Sample interview questions
I begin by understanding the client's entity structure, revenue sources, cash flow, long-term goals, and prior filings. I then identify planning opportunities, model their expected impact, explain risks and deadlines clearly, and document a practical implementation plan that is revisited throughout the year.
I use standardized close and filing checklists, maintain clear workpaper documentation, reconcile key accounts regularly, and prioritize work by statutory deadline and client risk. I also build review points into the process so unusual variances or incomplete source documents are addressed before filings or reports are finalized.
I would quickly identify the missing information, communicate a concise request list with deadlines, and reconcile available records to isolate the highest-risk gaps. If necessary, I would discuss extension options, ensure the client understands estimated-payment obligations, and document all assumptions used while continuing to improve the records.
I focus on earning trust through responsive advisory work and by identifying needs clients may not yet have articulated. In proposals and meetings, I translate technical services into clear business outcomes, define scope carefully, and maintain follow-up discipline to convert opportunities while protecting service quality.
I first map the current process and identify repetitive, rules-based activities such as data imports, reconciliations, and reporting. I configure automation with approval steps, exception reporting, access controls, and periodic testing so efficiency gains do not reduce accuracy, auditability, or accountability.
