Sample interview questions
How do you ensure a clinical site remains compliant with ICH-GCP and the study protocol?

I use a risk-based monitoring plan, review source data and essential documents thoroughly, reconcile findings promptly, and document all follow-up actions. I also reinforce protocol requirements with site staff and escalate persistent or critical issues through the appropriate study governance process.

Describe how you would handle a site that is falling behind on enrolment and has recurring data queries.

I would first assess the root causes through discussion with the investigator and coordinator, review screening and workflow data, and distinguish operational constraints from protocol-related issues. I would agree on a documented corrective action plan, provide focused training where needed, track progress at follow-up visits, and escalate risks early to the clinical project team.

What is your approach to preparing for and conducting a site initiation visit?

Before the visit, I confirm regulatory readiness, site personnel, facilities, investigational product processes, and required documentation. During the visit, I train the team on the protocol, safety reporting, data entry, monitoring expectations, and escalation pathways, then document readiness and any actions needed before enrolment.

How do you manage competing priorities while travelling extensively for multiple clinical sites?

I prioritize activities according to patient safety, data integrity, milestone risk, and visit windows. I maintain a structured visit and follow-up schedule, communicate early when priorities change, and use clear trackers to ensure action items, reports, and escalations are completed on time.

How have you supported junior CRA development?

I provide practical guidance on visit preparation, report writing, issue escalation, and site communication, while explaining the rationale behind compliance decisions. I give timely, specific feedback and gradually increase responsibility as the CRA demonstrates confidence and consistency.
