AI Summary

The role, at a glance.

Juniper Square is seeking a senior technical product leader to own a complex, cross-functional product or platform domain. The role sets product vision, strategy, roadmaps, success metrics, and adoption plans for shared capabilities used by multiple internal teams. It requires close partnership with engineering leadership on architecture trade-offs, technical debt, reliability, security, and build-versus-buy decisions. The successful candidate will operate autonomously in an ambiguous global R&D environment and influence stakeholders without direct authority. Experience with platform, data, or infrastructure products and familiarity with LLM-based workflow automation are especially valuable.

Sample interview questions
Describe a technically complex shared platform capability you owned. How did you drive adoption across multiple teams?

I would explain the user and business problems the capability addressed, define its target internal users and success metrics, and describe the adoption plan. A strong example would show how I partnered with engineering, documented the product, gathered feedback from early adopters, and used reliability and usage data to improve rollout.

How do you prioritize work when platform reliability, technical debt, feature demand, and engineering capacity compete?

I use an explicit prioritization framework that weighs customer and business impact, risk, urgency, strategic fit, effort, and dependencies. I make the trade-offs visible to stakeholders, use operational data such as incidents and adoption metrics, and revisit the sequence as evidence or constraints change.

How would you evaluate a build-versus-buy decision for a core internal capability?

I would begin with the required outcomes, integration needs, security and compliance requirements, total cost of ownership, vendor risk, and expected differentiation. I would involve engineering and security early, compare viable options against a shared scorecard, and document both the decision and conditions that would warrant revisiting it.

How do you communicate an architectural or technical trade-off to non-technical stakeholders?

I frame the discussion around the decision, business outcomes, risks, costs, and timeline rather than implementation detail. I use clear alternatives, state my recommendation and assumptions, and tailor depth to the audience while ensuring stakeholders understand what is being gained or deferred.

Give an example of how you would use LLM-based agents to automate a real-world workflow responsibly.

I would start with a bounded workflow where human review and measurable quality criteria are possible, such as classifying incoming requests or generating structured summaries from approved data. I would define evaluation metrics, privacy and access controls, failure-handling paths, and human escalation, then pilot the solution before expanding it based on observed accuracy and user value.

About your role

As Juniper Square’s R&D organization grows globally, we’re adding senior technical product leaders. We’re looking for an experienced product manager who does well in technically complex problem spaces that cut across teams.

In this role, you will own capabilities that benefit teams across the company, where reaching our business goals depends on cross-functional collaboration and leadership. You’ll shape the vision, turn it into a roadmap, and drive adoption across the organization, while holding a high bar for quality and security. You’ll own a business or product domain end to end, with direct impact on Juniper Square’s growth.

You’ll bring a product mindset to everything you own and operate autonomously in a fast-growing, global R&D organization. In line with our values, you’ll bring first-principles thinking to your domain and put clients first in every decision. You should be comfortable taking an active part in technical discussions and be curious about technical topics. Many people come to this role after working as engineers, but that isn’t required.

We’ll decide your specific area during the interview process, based on your experience and business priorities.

What you’ll do

  • Lead a large, technically complex product area: define success, prioritize problems and set strategy with the wider company in view

  • Identify the most significant near- and long-term opportunities in your area, and build consensus on how to sequence them against engineering capacity, risk and business priorities

  • Treat shared capabilities as first-class internal products, with clear documentation and a path teams can adopt instead of building their own

  • Set adoption and reliability expectations, and track how consistently teams build on shared capabilities

  • Bring tradeoffs such as build versus buy, technical debt and sequencing into architecture discussions with engineering leadership

  • Research and benchmark industry practices and new technology, including AI, and turn the findings into strategy

  • Build and maintain feedback channels with stakeholders inside and outside R&D, and use that input to prioritize

  • Define success metrics, track KPIs, and adjust strategy as you learn and as conditions change

  • Lead by influence: inspire other teams with your technical vision, earn their trust and drive adoption

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience as a product manager or in a similar role, with at least 5 years on technical platform, data or infrastructure products

  • Demonstrated experience owning horizontal shared capabilities used by multiple teams, with a focus on driving adoption

  • Demonstrated experience working on technically complex solutions, finding clean and enduring designs for these problems that scale

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, and comfort explaining complex technical concepts to a wide range of stakeholders within and outside the R&D organization

  • Track record of operating with high autonomy in ambiguous scope

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as an engineer

  • Concrete examples of using LLM-based agents to automate real-world workflows

Compensation

Compensation for this position includes a base salary, equity and a variety of benefits. The U.S. base salary range for this role is $200,000 – $230,000. Actual base salaries will be based on candidate-specific factors, including experience, skillset, and location, and local minimum pay requirements as applicable.

Benefits include:

  • Health, dental, and vision care for you and your family

  • Life insurance

  • Mental wellness coverage

  • Fertility and growing family support

  • Flex Time Off in addition to company-paid holidays

  • Paid family leave, medical leave, and bereavement leave policies

  • Retirement saving plans

  • Allowance to customize your work and technology setup at home
