Sample interview questions
I have administered production clusters by troubleshooting scheduler and kubelet behavior, managing CRDs and controllers, defining resource policies, and improving upgrade, capacity, and reliability processes. I use metrics, events, and logs to isolate control-plane and node-level issues.
I would implement image scanning and provenance controls in CI, sign trusted images, enforce admission policies, restrict privileges and capabilities, manage secrets securely, and monitor runtime behavior. I would also establish patching, vulnerability triage, and incident-response procedures.
I use Terraform for declarative provisioning and reusable modules, with remote state controls and reviewable plans. I use Ansible for repeatable host configuration and operational workflows, emphasizing idempotency, version control, testing, and clear rollback paths.
I would first define the affected scope using service-level metrics, then trace requests across DNS, network paths, load balancers, application instances, and dependencies. I would correlate latency with saturation, errors, deployment changes, and packet or connection metrics before validating a fix through targeted testing.
I would prioritize a pipeline with fast automated validation, security scanning, reproducible artifact creation, infrastructure plan review, staged deployment, and observability-based verification. Changes should have clear ownership, auditability, and automated rollback or mitigation procedures for failed releases.
