Sample interview questions
I begin by confirming business flows, trading partners, ERP capabilities, document formats, protocols, testing criteria, and ownership. I create a delivery plan, coordinate mapping and connectivity work, manage end-to-end testing with each party, and monitor the first production transactions until the integration is stable.
I would identify the required IDoc types, segments, qualifiers, control records, and business rules, then map them to the target canonical or partner-specific format. I would validate connectivity, acknowledgement handling, error scenarios, and reconciliation requirements before completing structured test cycles and production cutover.
I have worked with standards such as EDIFACT, ANSI X12, XML, and partner-specific formats. I treat each partner guideline as a concrete implementation specification, maintain reusable mapping patterns where possible, and document deviations, validation rules, acknowledgements, and exception handling clearly.
I first isolate whether the issue is transport, authentication, syntax, mapping, master data, or business validation. I review message logs and acknowledgements, reproduce the failure with the relevant payload where possible, communicate impact and next steps to stakeholders, and implement a tested corrective action with monitoring to prevent recurrence.
I maintain transparent priorities based on delivery risk, dependencies, and customer commitments. I use clear milestones, action owners, and regular status communication, while escalating blockers early and reserving focused time for complex technical analysis.
