Sample interview questions
How have you led an engineering organization through a major operating-model or technology transformation while sustaining product delivery?

I begin by defining the business outcomes, the target operating model, and a small set of measurable leading indicators. I sequence the change through pilot teams, communicate trade-offs transparently, and protect critical delivery commitments with clear ownership and decision rights. I then scale proven practices while using regular feedback from teams and partners to address friction early.

How would you evaluate and introduce AI-native or agentic workflows across a software engineering organization?

I would identify high-value workflows such as code generation, testing, incident analysis, documentation, and developer support, then run controlled pilots with measurable baselines. Adoption should include security, privacy, quality, and human-review guardrails rather than treating AI use as an end in itself. The successful workflows would be standardized through tooling, training, and outcome metrics such as cycle time, defect rates, and developer experience.

How do you balance speed, technical quality, privacy, and trust when building consumer health products?

I make the trade-offs explicit through product risk assessment, architecture reviews, and shared success metrics with product, clinical, and regulatory partners. Teams should distinguish reversible experiments from decisions that affect safety, privacy, or long-term platform integrity. For sensitive capabilities, I favor strong validation, observability, and staged releases while maintaining clear member-value goals.

Describe how you build a strong leadership bench when managing through managers and directors.

I establish clear expectations for leaders around outcomes, talent development, execution, and collaboration, then provide frequent coaching and candid feedback. I create opportunities for leaders to own meaningful cross-functional initiatives and assess readiness through observed behavior, not tenure alone. Succession planning, calibrated performance discussions, and deliberate hiring complete the leadership pipeline.

What metrics would you use to determine whether the Women’s Health engineering organization is succeeding?

I would combine member-outcome metrics with delivery, quality, and organizational-health indicators. Examples include adoption and retention for priority experiences, reliability and defect trends, time to learn and ship, privacy or compliance findings, team engagement, and leadership-bench strength. The metric set should be reviewed with cross-functional partners so that engineering optimization remains tied to meaningful member impact.

  • A track record of shipping consumer software that created meaningful, measurable impact for users or members.
  • Experience building and scaling a strong product-building organization, including hiring and developing leaders and managing through managers.

  • Excellent people leadership skills, including coaching, feedback, performance management, talent development, and inclusive leadership.
  • Strong technical and product judgment, with enough depth to make sound trade-offs across architecture, platform, data, quality, reliability, privacy, and speed.
  • Genuine interest in Women’s Health and the motivation to learn the domain deeply and serve members with empathy.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in Women’s Health, reproductive health, menopause, postpartum, fertility, or adjacent health domains.
  • Experience with regulated, clinically adjacent, or high-trust consumer products.
  • Experience with wearables, connected devices, mobile products, or longitudinal health data.
  • Experience leading AI-enabled product development or AI-native engineering transformation.
  • Experience leading distributed, international, or cross-time-zone organizations.
