Sample interview questions
How have you managed NetSuite configuration and customization while maintaining appropriate change controls?

I use a documented intake and prioritization process, define requirements with business owners, configure and test changes in a sandbox, obtain approvals, and deploy through controlled release steps. I maintain change records, testing evidence, rollback plans, and post-deployment validation to support both operational reliability and audit requirements.

Describe your experience supporting the order-to-cash process in NetSuite.

I have supported order-to-cash workflows from CRM opportunity and CPQ handoff through order management, billing, revenue recognition, collections, and cash application. My focus is on clear system ownership, accurate master data, reliable integrations, exception reporting, and automation that reduces manual reconciliation.

How would you investigate a discrepancy between Salesforce, NetSuite billing, and revenue-recognition data?

I would first quantify the discrepancy and identify the affected transaction population, then trace records through integration logs, field mappings, workflow status, and source-system changes. After isolating the root cause, I would correct impacted records through an approved process, validate downstream reporting, and implement monitoring or control improvements to prevent recurrence.

What approach do you use to manage segregation-of-duties risks and privileged access in a finance system?

I apply role-based access with least-privilege principles, maintain an access matrix, and conduct periodic user and privileged-access reviews. I document SOD conflicts, work with control owners on remediation or compensating controls, and ensure access changes are approved, tested, and auditable.

How do you prioritize competing finance-system enhancements in a fast-growing company?

I assess requests by business value, control and compliance impact, operational risk, dependency, effort, and user reach. I make tradeoffs visible through a prioritized roadmap, define measurable success criteria, and communicate timelines and constraints clearly so stakeholders understand why work is sequenced as it is.
