Sample interview questions
I would begin with workforce, market, utilization, and cost data to define a clear global benefits floor and guiding principles. I would then map statutory obligations and competitive market practices by country, allowing targeted local variations where they materially improve compliance, equity, or talent competitiveness. Governance, documentation, and regular reviews would keep the approach sustainable as the company grows.
I would set a renewal calendar, validate census and claims data early, and align decision criteria with Finance and People leadership. I would run structured broker and carrier discussions, compare plan designs and cost scenarios, negotiate service levels, and present clear trade-offs. After decisions are made, I would manage implementation, employee communications, payroll updates, and post-renewal performance tracking.
Key controls include documented plan governance, ERISA and ACA reporting calendars, COBRA administration, nondiscrimination testing, Form 5500 filings, vendor oversight, and reliable eligibility data flowing between HRIS, payroll, and carriers. I would assign accountable owners, maintain an auditable compliance calendar, and periodically test data quality and vendor performance. Close partnership with Legal and external advisors is essential for resolving changes in regulation or plan design.
I would prioritize repeatable, high-volume workflows such as eligibility validation, enrollment reminders, reconciliation exceptions, and answers to common employee questions. Each workflow would include approved knowledge sources, role-based access, escalation paths for sensitive cases, and quality monitoring. Automation should reduce administrative effort while preserving human review for complex, regulated, or employee-sensitive decisions.
I would combine financial measures such as total cost, trend, utilization, renewal outcomes, and vendor fees with employee measures such as enrollment, satisfaction, accessibility, and support-ticket themes. I would segment findings by country and population where appropriate to identify inequities or underused benefits. Recommendations would clearly show expected cost, risk, employee impact, and implementation effort.

Senior Manager, Global Benefits
We’re ~1,300 builders across 18 countries. We share context openly, work across functions and borders, question defaults, and own our outcomes. Our People team runs on Dataiku too, with AI agents and automated workflows.
The role
Location: EMEA – Remote · Reports to: Global Total Rewards Lead
You’ll own Dataiku’s global benefits programs across all countries where we operate. The goal: benefits that help us win AI talent, feel consistent and fair wherever people work, meet local requirements, and stay financially sustainable.
Our People function is lean and decentralized. You’ll set benefits strategy with the Global Total Rewards Lead, partner directly with Finance, Legal, Payroll and our brokers, lead day-to-day benefits operations, and have real autonomy. This is a builder role: you’ll challenge how benefits work today and use AI to make them simpler to run and easier for employees to use.
What you’ll do
- Shape the strategy. Define and evolve our global benefits philosophy with the Global Total Rewards Lead, balancing market competitiveness, consistency across countries and cost discipline.
- Own the global portfolio. Design and manage health, retirement, insurance, leave and wellbeing programs across our entities and EOR countries, setting a clear global floor with smart local variation.
- Run renewals and vendors. Lead annual renewals, broker and carrier relationships, and RFPs. Negotiate on data, not habit, and hold vendors to clear service levels.
- Keep us compliant. Make sure plans meet local rules in every country. You’ll own US compliance directly (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, nondiscrimination testing, Form 5500) as well as statutory and collective-agreement obligations in Europe and beyond.
- Manage cost. Own the global benefits budget and forecasts with Finance. Model plan changes, track claims and utilization trends, and bring clear trade-offs to decision-makers.
- Lead benefits operations. Lead the team that runs enrollment, life events, leaves, payroll and HRIS integrations, and EOR coordination. Build processes that scale without adding headcount.
- Use AI to reinvent the experience. Automate enrollment, eligibility checks, reconciliations and employee questions with AI agents and workflows. Make it easy for employees to understand and use what we offer.
- Support growth and change. Set up benefits for new countries, entity conversions from EOR, and acquisitions, with clean harmonization plans.
- Communicate clearly. Build benefits guides, open-enrollment campaigns and manager resources that people actually read.
What we’re looking for
- Extensive global benefits experience in a global, high-growth tech or enterprise software company.
- Deep expertise in benefits design, renewals, vendor/broker management and benchmarking across multiple countries.
- Strong, hands-on US benefits compliance experience, plus experience with European programs and statutory requirements, including UK and French benefits and pensions.
- Experience managing benefits through both owned entities and Employer of Record providers (e.g. Deel, Remote).
- A track record of building or transforming benefits programs, not just administering them.
- Experience leading a team and influencing senior stakeholders in lean, fast-moving environments.
- Strong analytical skills for cost modeling and claims analysis, and real curiosity for AI and automation (Workday a plus).
Why join us
- Real impact: shape benefits for a global AI company helping the world’s largest enterprises make AI work.
- Ownership: the autonomy to build, with direct access to Total Rewards, Finance and People leadership.
- Growth: help reinvent how People programs are delivered, with AI-powered workflows.
