Sample interview questions
Describe a medium-sized frontend project you owned from planning through release.

I would explain how I clarified user and product requirements, broke the work into deliverable milestones, documented key technical decisions, implemented and tested the solution, and communicated dependencies and risks throughout delivery. I would also share measurable outcomes such as reduced task time, improved reliability, or lower page-load latency.

How would you make a complex campaign-creation workflow intuitive and accessible?

I would begin with the user’s primary goals and map the workflow into clear, progressive steps. I would use consistent components, descriptive labels, keyboard-accessible interactions, visible validation, and meaningful error states, then validate the design with usability and accessibility testing.

How do you approach frontend performance problems in a production application?

I first establish a baseline using real-user metrics and browser profiling tools, then identify the highest-impact bottleneck such as unnecessary rendering, oversized bundles, slow network requests, or inefficient data handling. I make targeted improvements, test for regressions, and monitor the released change against defined performance metrics.

How do you communicate a technical tradeoff to product and design partners?

I describe the user impact, delivery implications, risks, and viable options in plain language rather than leading with implementation details. I recommend an option with clear rationale, identify what would be deferred, and make sure the decision and assumptions are documented.

What do you look for when reviewing frontend code?

I review correctness, readability, maintainability, accessibility, test coverage, performance implications, and consistency with established patterns. My feedback is specific and constructive, focused on helping the author improve the change while protecting the reliability of the broader system.
