Sample interview questions
How would you diagnose a decline in the conversion rate from marketing-qualified lead to sales-accepted lead?

I would first validate data completeness and definitions across Marketo and Salesforce, then segment the funnel by source, campaign, persona, territory, score band, and routing path. I would review speed-to-lead, assignment failures, acceptance reasons, scoring changes, and sales capacity to isolate whether the issue is lead quality, routing, process adoption, or reporting logic.

Describe how you would build a scalable lead and PQL routing framework.

I would document routing requirements with sales, marketing, and RevOps, including geography, segment, account ownership, product activity, and SLA rules. I would implement prioritized decision logic, exception handling, audit fields, alerts, and dashboards, then test edge cases in a sandbox before monitoring assignment accuracy and response-time metrics after launch.

What controls would you use to maintain Marketo and Salesforce integration health?

I would establish field ownership, mapping documentation, validation rules, sync-error monitoring, and regular reconciliation reports for key lifecycle and attribution fields. I would also use controlled change management, test integrations before deployment, and create clear escalation paths for failures that affect lead capture or sales handoff.

How do you translate an ambiguous stakeholder request into a functional specification?

I begin by clarifying the business outcome, users, current workflow, data inputs, constraints, success metrics, and risks. I then document process flows, acceptance criteria, field requirements, dependencies, and test cases in user-story format, review the proposal with stakeholders, and use their approval to guide build and UAT.

Give an example of how you would apply AI or automation to improve GTM operations.

I would start with a high-volume, repeatable process such as lead-data enrichment, campaign QA, routing exception triage, or ticket categorization. After defining accuracy and governance requirements, I would pilot the automation on a limited workflow, compare results against a manual baseline, and scale it only if it improves speed without reducing data quality or compliance.

  • Monitor inbound funnel and handoff metrics (conversion rates, speed to lead, response time, acceptance rates), name the root cause behind movements, and drive continuous improvement
  • Translate marketing, data, and privacy requirements into functional specifications and user stories, and lead initiatives end to end, from discovery and backlog management through UAT and go-live
  • Run fit-gap analysis on current-state processes, recommend scalable solutions, and balance run-the-business work with roadmap projects, including effort estimates, dependencies, and sequencing
  • Manage a large and evolving GTM technology stack, including tool setup, permissions, and vendor coordination, while testing automation and AI-powered approaches that reduce manual work and improve speed, accuracy, and scale

What does it take to work at LastPass?

  • Hands-on expertise administering Marketo, including workflows, lifecycle stages, scoring, routing, campaign management, and Salesforce integration
  • Strong working knowledge of Salesforce CRM concepts and how data flows across GTM systems, with strong SQL skills for analysis, validation, and issue resolution
  • Ability to independently own techno-functional deliverables across requirements, design, testing, and deployment, including functional specs and user stories
  • Solid understanding of lifecycle marketing, audience segmentation, and marketing automation workflows, with a background in Business, Marketing, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Viewed as a trusted advisor who translates business strategy into clear technical requirements for senior stakeholders
  • Curious and practical in applying AI and automation, with a track record of testing ways to improve process speed, accuracy, or scale
  • Highly organized and execution-focused, thriving in fast-moving, ambiguous environments while owning outcomes end to end
