Sample interview questions
I would begin with clear pipeline and revenue objectives by segment, region, solution, and buying persona. I would map channel roles to awareness, consideration, and conversion stages, establish audience and creative testing plans, and allocate investment using incremental performance evidence. A shared reporting framework connecting media exposure, engagement, opportunity creation, and pipeline would guide continuous budget reallocation.
I set a documented operating model covering strategic responsibilities, KPIs, budget governance, testing cadence, service-level expectations, and escalation paths. The agency should bring channel expertise and execution capacity, while the internal team owns business priorities, audience strategy, measurement standards, and final investment decisions. I review both results and quality of collaboration through regular business reviews and transparent scorecards.
I view them as complementary methods rather than competing sources of truth. Multi-touch attribution provides granular directional insight for campaign, audience, and journey optimization, while MMM helps quantify broader channel contribution and diminishing returns, including harder-to-measure media effects. I would triangulate findings with controlled experiments and use the combined evidence for investment decisions.
I would develop distinct audience hypotheses, messages, content experiences, and conversion paths for each role. Technical audiences generally need credible product, security, and operational proof, while executives need business outcomes, risk reduction, and strategic value. I would coordinate sequencing and account-level engagement so those messages reinforce one another across the buying group.
I create clarity around business outcomes, decision rights, channel ownership, and measurable standards of excellence. I invest in coaching, skill development, experimentation, and career growth while ensuring teams have access to reliable data and productive agency support. Regular performance discussions should balance accountability for results with a psychologically safe culture that encourages innovation and learning.
