Core skills

Skills and capabilities most closely associated with this opportunity.

Sample interview questions
How would you investigate a potentially suspicious crypto transaction?

I would first review the customer’s KYC profile, expected activity, transaction history, linked wallet exposure, and relevant blockchain analytics alerts. I would document the rationale, seek supporting information where appropriate, assess whether escalation or a SAR is warranted, and ensure the case is closed with a clear audit trail.

What are the key components of an effective AML/CFT framework for a crypto exchange?

Core components include risk-based customer onboarding, KYC/CDD and EDD controls, sanctions and PEP screening, transaction monitoring, blockchain analytics, escalation and SAR processes, employee training, independent testing, governance, and ongoing regulatory reporting. Controls should be regularly calibrated to evolving products, typologies, and local requirements.

How would you support the MLRO during a regulatory inquiry from the UIF or CNV?

I would confirm the request scope and deadline, coordinate secure collection of accurate records, validate the evidence with relevant stakeholders, and prepare a concise response that is consistent with internal policies and regulatory obligations. I would maintain a complete record of communications, decisions, and submitted materials.

How do you balance operational speed with thoroughness in transaction-monitoring investigations?

I prioritize alerts using risk indicators, regulatory deadlines, customer risk, transaction value, and potential harm. I use standardized investigation workflows and documented decision criteria to handle routine cases efficiently, while reserving deeper analysis and escalation for higher-risk or complex cases.

How would you communicate a compliance control gap to Product or Operations teams?

I would explain the specific gap, associated regulatory and financial-crime risk, and the practical impact on the customer journey or process. I would propose proportionate remediation options, define ownership and timelines, and work collaboratively to implement a control that is both effective and operationally sustainable.
