Sample interview questions
How would you approach negotiating a strategic commercial agreement for a new stablecoin product where the legal framework is still evolving?

I would first identify the product flow, parties, funds movement, data handling, and allocation of operational responsibilities. I would then prioritize material regulatory, liability, compliance, security, and termination risks, propose practical safeguards, and clearly distinguish non-negotiable issues from acceptable business tradeoffs. Throughout the negotiation, I would keep product, compliance, and commercial stakeholders aligned on risk decisions.

Describe how you translate a complex legal risk for a product or sales team.

I explain the issue in plain language, describe the likely business impact, and provide clear options with associated risk levels. For example, rather than only citing a regulatory requirement, I would explain what product behavior or contract commitment creates exposure and recommend a workable path to launch. This allows stakeholders to make informed decisions without needing to become legal specialists.

What experience do you have building scalable legal processes?

I have developed contract templates, clause libraries, approval matrices, negotiation playbooks, and intake workflows to reduce cycle time while preserving appropriate controls. I would use data from recurring negotiations to identify bottlenecks and standardize low-risk positions. Where appropriate, I would also evaluate AI tools for first-pass review, knowledge retrieval, and process automation with suitable human oversight.

How would you partner with compliance and product teams during an international expansion?

I would establish an early cross-functional workstream to map target jurisdictions, product functionality, customer segments, data flows, and local regulatory dependencies. I would coordinate ownership of legal, compliance, tax, operational, and contractual workstreams, document key decisions, and sequence requirements against launch milestones. The objective is to identify blockers early while enabling the business to move forward with a clear, risk-based plan.

How do you handle disagreement with a business stakeholder who wants to accept a high-risk contract term?

I would seek to understand the commercial objective and explain the specific downside, likelihood, and possible consequences of accepting the term. I would offer alternative language or operational mitigations that preserve as much of the business value as possible. If the risk remains material, I would escalate through the appropriate decision-making process with a concise recommendation and ensure the final risk acceptance is documented.
