Sample interview questions
I begin by identifying schedule-critical items, supplier capacity risks, technical interfaces, and the commercial exposure associated with late delivery or underperformance. I then negotiate clear milestones, acceptance criteria, security instruments, warranties, escalation mechanisms, and enforceable delay remedies while ensuring the terms align with the project delivery strategy.
I validate the contractual entitlement, assess the underlying cost evidence and indexation provisions, and quantify schedule and budget impacts. I coordinate technical, procurement, and finance inputs before negotiating an outcome that protects the owner’s position and documenting the decision through formal change-control procedures.
I map payment milestones to objective deliverables such as design approval, manufacturing progress, factory acceptance testing, shipment, and site acceptance. I also review whether retention, guarantees, and remedies remain effective through the risk period, so cash outflow is proportionate to verified progress and exposure.
I would establish a controlled contract register with versioned agreements, purchase orders, amendments, notices, milestone status, and financial commitments. Regular reconciliations between NetSuite, procurement workflow tools, and vendor statements help identify discrepancies early, while clear ownership and audit trails support governance.
I would first confirm the contractual baseline, notice requirements, root cause, and supplier recovery plan. Working with project and procurement teams, I would evaluate mitigation options such as expediting, alternate sourcing, resequencing, or capacity support, while preserving contractual rights and escalating remedies if the supplier does not cure the delay.
