Opportunity details

About this role.

NetBox Labs seeks a Senior Product Designer to help shape the next generation of our platform. We are building products on top of the NetBox data model that help network teams put their data to work, from interactive maps of their network, to compliance on network intended design, to analytics and AI-driven workflows. This role will own design across these applications and how they connect to each other. You will partner with product managers and engineers on day-to-day delivery, and with design leadership on building a design culture and scaling how design works across the company.

Who you are

Curiosity drives you. You want to understand how networks actually run and why operators work the way they do. You love rolling up your sleeves and are as happy sketching a flow, building a prototype or sitting in on a customer call. You are energized by complex technical landscapes, where dense data, expert users and messy real-world systems bring out your best work. You have a sharp eye for great design, care about craft and clarity and can explain why something works and how to make it better.

Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end design for platform applications such as Analytics, Visual Explorer, Validation, orAI-driven workflows that customers use directly in the product.

  • Design how these applications interact with each other, NetBox, and our observability products.

  • Turn complex data sets, visualizations, and workflows into clear, usable interfaces for network engineers and architects.

  • Plan and run user research, both qualitative and quantitative, and bring customer insight back to product and engineering teams.

  • Prototype ideas quickly, whether with AI tools, in code, or in Figma, to test concepts with users and engineers.

  • Design in the open. Share work early, invite critique, and keep stakeholders aligned.

  • Contribute to our design system in Figma and partner with frontend engineers on the Storybook component library.

  • Shape how the design team uses AI in its process, and challenge how we work today.

  • Help improve how we use product analytics to inform design decisions.

  • Help define the long-term vision for the platform, exploring what comes next beyond your immediate product area.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of product design experience, including enterprise-grade B2B software.

  • Experience designing for technical users, such as network, DevOps, security, or infrastructure engineers.

  • A track record of taking products from MVP to GA, including shaping the first release and carrying the design through to a launch-ready product.

  • Comfort with complex data sets, data visualization, and multi-step workflows.

  • Strong visual design and interaction design skills, shown in a portfolio.

  • Hands-on experience planning and running user research, and acting on what you learn.

  • Active, effective use of AI in your design work, with examples of how it has changed your process.

  • Prototyping skills in any form, from AI tools to code to Figma.

  • Experience working on a design team inside a scale-up, alongside other designers.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, and a habit of designing in the open.

  • Experience in improving how a team works, not just what it ships.

  • Able to work with significant overlap with US Eastern and UK hours.

Nice to have:

  • Experience designing observability, monitoring, or compliance products.

  • Experience with network management or infrastructure software.

  • Experience using product analytics tools such as PostHog to inform design.

  • Familiarity with design systems built in Figma and Storybook.

Sample interview questions
How would you approach designing a workflow for network engineers who need to investigate a complex compliance issue?

I would begin by learning the current investigation process through interviews, observation, and existing product data. I would map the user journey, identify high-risk decision points, and prototype an interface that prioritizes relevant context, traceability, and clear next actions. I would validate the workflow with representative users before refining it with engineering.

Describe a time you turned a complex dataset into an understandable product experience.

I would explain the user’s primary questions first, then describe how I reduced cognitive load through progressive disclosure, meaningful visual hierarchy, and task-focused visualizations. I would also share how I tested comprehension and iterated based on qualitative feedback and behavioral data.

How do you balance consistency from a design system with the needs of a new product workflow?

I start with existing components and patterns to preserve consistency and implementation efficiency. When a workflow requires something new, I document the user need, test the proposed pattern, and collaborate with design and frontend partners to determine whether it should become a reusable system component.

What role does AI play in your design process?

I use AI to accelerate exploration, synthesize research inputs, generate prototype directions, and challenge assumptions, while retaining responsibility for product judgment and validation. I evaluate outputs against user needs, accessibility, technical feasibility, and the product’s strategic goals rather than treating AI output as final work.

How do you keep stakeholders aligned when designing in the open?

I share work early with concise context about the problem, assumptions, and decisions needed. I create regular feedback moments, make trade-offs visible, and document outcomes so product, engineering, and leadership understand both what is changing and why.
