Sample interview questions
How would you design a data-governance implementation for a federal agency with multiple data domains?

I would begin with stakeholder and mission discovery, identify priority data domains and regulatory constraints, then define governance roles, stewardship workflows, policies, and measurable adoption outcomes. I would phase delivery around high-value use cases while integrating the catalog, lineage, quality, and workflow capabilities with the agency’s existing platform.

Describe how you would address FedRAMP and FISMA considerations in an architecture proposal.

I would map the proposed design to the agency’s security controls, authorized cloud boundary, identity model, data classification requirements, audit logging, encryption, and change-management processes. I would work with security stakeholders early to document inherited and customer-managed controls and ensure implementation artifacts support authorization requirements.

What is your approach to integrating an enterprise platform with external systems through REST APIs?

I define the business workflow and data contracts first, then design secure authentication, authorization, error handling, idempotency, logging, and versioning. I validate the integration through representative test cases and provide operational documentation so customer teams can support it after deployment.

How would you troubleshoot a client connectivity issue in a Kubernetes-based deployment?

I would isolate the issue across DNS, network policy, ingress, service endpoints, certificates, identity, and application logs. I would use Kubernetes events and workload status alongside platform and network diagnostics, communicate findings clearly to stakeholders, and document the root cause and preventive actions.

How do you balance technical architecture work with customer adoption and account growth goals?

I connect technical decisions to mission outcomes, adoption metrics, and the customer roadmap. By delivering a successful initial use case, transferring knowledge, and identifying adjacent governance needs, I can create customer value while responsibly identifying opportunities for expanded services and licensing.
