Sample interview questions
How would you design a React interface for managing high-risk server operations?

I would start by clarifying operator workflows, permissions, failure modes, and audit requirements. I would use clear status visibility, confirmation steps for destructive actions, role-based access, optimistic updates only where safe, and detailed error recovery. I would also design reusable components and telemetry so the interface remains maintainable and observable.

Describe your approach to troubleshooting a frontend issue that occurs only in production.

I would first assess user impact and gather evidence from monitoring, browser logs, API traces, release history, and feature flags. I would reproduce the issue in a production-like environment, isolate whether it is caused by the UI, API contract, configuration, or infrastructure, and communicate status to stakeholders. After remediation, I would add tests, monitoring, or safeguards to reduce recurrence.

What practices do you use to keep a large React codebase maintainable?

I use clear module boundaries, typed interfaces, reusable components, consistent state-management patterns, automated linting and testing, and documented architectural decisions. I also prioritize code reviews, incremental refactoring, and performance monitoring to prevent complexity from accumulating.

How have Docker and Linux knowledge helped you as a frontend engineer?

Docker makes local development and CI environments reproducible, especially when applications depend on services or shared tooling. Linux command-line skills help me inspect logs, diagnose deployment problems, work with containers, and collaborate efficiently with infrastructure teams during incidents.

How would you collaborate with infrastructure engineers when requirements are incomplete or rapidly changing?

I would use short discovery sessions to identify the operational goal, users, constraints, and success criteria, then propose a small validated workflow or prototype. I would document assumptions, share progress frequently, and iterate based on operator feedback while maintaining a clear technical contract with backend and platform teams.
