Sample interview questions
How do you ensure accuracy when translating clinical-trial and pharmacovigilance documents?

I research approved terminology, use reference materials and translation memories, and perform a structured final review for meaning, consistency, numbers, units, and formatting. For safety content, I pay particular attention to adverse-event terminology and regulatory phrasing.

What is your approach to machine translation post-editing for regulated medical content?

I first assess whether the output preserves the source meaning and required terminology. I then edit for accuracy, fluency, consistency, and target-language conventions, while applying the client style guide and documenting recurring issues where appropriate.

Which CAT-tool features are most important in your workflow?

I regularly use translation memories, termbases, QA checks, concordance search, segment status controls, and filters. These features help maintain consistency across repeated clinical and regulatory terminology while supporting efficient review.

How do you manage strict, non-extendable deadlines without compromising quality?

I assess scope and references at the start, plan daily production targets, and reserve time for QA and final formatting checks. I communicate risks early and prioritize terminology decisions that affect the entire file.

How would you handle an unclear source phrase in a medical-device instruction or patient-facing document?

I would review context, prior approved translations, terminology resources, and relevant product documentation. If ambiguity remains, I would raise a concise query through the agreed client workflow rather than making an unsupported assumption.
