About this role.
About Supabase
Supabase is the Postgres development platform, built by developers for developers. We provide a complete backend solution including Database, Auth, Storage, Edge Functions, Realtime, and Vector Search. All services are deeply integrated and designed for growth.
About the Role
We’re seeking a Technical Account Manager (TAM) to be the primary technical partner for our Team & customers after the sale, helping them adopt, operate, and get long-term value from Supabase.
At Supabase, TAMs are the technical owners of their assigned accounts, working closely with our most valuable customers to:
Understand each customer’s architecture, use cases, constraints, and goals.
Validate deployments and guide customers through onboarding and early success.
Proactively surface risks and optimization opportunities before they become incidents.
Coordinate internal teams on complex escalations and drive root cause analysis.
Align Supabase capabilities with the customer’s roadmap.
Successful TAMs are proactive, technically credible, and customer-first. TAM is a relationship, not a response channel: you’ll act as an extension of your customers’ teams and advocate on their behalf within Supabase.
You’ll be joining our Success team, where you will be expected to lead and innovate around the following areas of responsibility:
Technical Ownership & Onboarding
Act as the technical owner for your assigned accounts, documenting environments, mapping dependencies, and tracking technical risks.
Validate architecture and deployment plans after the sale, guide initial configuration and best practices, and make sure customers understand platform capabilities and limitations.
Help customers reach early success milestones to shorten time to value and reduce early friction.
Proactive Technical Guidance
Regularly review customer environments and usage patterns to identify scalability, performance, reliability, security, and compliance risks and opportunities.
Plan upgrades and lifecycle events, and run architecture reviews for upcoming initiatives, including capacity and growth planning, feature readiness, and early identification of technical blockers.
Escalation & Collaboration
Coordinate across Support and Engineering on complex or high-impact issues. TAMs are not frontline support, but provide the context, prioritization, and follow-through that drive resolution, root cause analysis, and preventative action.
Serve as the voice of the customer to Engineering and Product, sharing specific, reproducible feedback on recurring pain points and taking part in beta and early access programs.
Partner with Sales and Customer Success on account health and retention, with technical input on renewals, expansions, and evaluations, and early flags on risks to satisfaction.
Preferred Experience
6+ years of relevant work experience in engineering, SRE, technical consulting, or similar, including operating production systems under real constraints.
Strong technical depth across database internals, scalability, security posture, and infrastructure tradeoffs. You understand a customer’s architecture as well as they do, without escalating every question.
A proactive mindset: you spot risks and optimization opportunities before the customer does, and you treat your accounts like a personal portfolio.
Sound escalation judgment: you know when to escalate, when to resolve internally, and how to communicate clearly under pressure without creating noise.
Very strong communication skills. TAMs explain complex issues to non-technical executives and root causes to senior engineers, often in the same day.
Awareness of how TAM performance shows up in retention and NRR, including surfacing expansion signals and renewal risks early.
Experience working in async or globally distributed teams.

Sample interview questions
I would begin by documenting the customer architecture, critical workloads, stakeholders, dependencies, success criteria, and known risks. I would then validate the deployment plan, establish operational and communication cadences, and agree on measurable early-success milestones.
I would review workload patterns, database performance signals, capacity trends, query behavior, growth assumptions, and upcoming product changes. I would turn findings into a prioritized plan with clear ownership, timelines, expected impact, and follow-up validation.
I establish the customer impact, severity, technical facts, and a single communication path early. I provide Engineering with reproducible context and business priority, keep the customer informed with accurate updates, and ensure root-cause and prevention actions are tracked after resolution.
For an executive, I would focus on customer impact, risk, mitigation status, and decision points in concise language. For an engineer, I would provide the relevant evidence, architecture context, failure mode, hypotheses, and proposed remediation steps.
I would flag declining adoption, unresolved reliability concerns, missed success milestones, stakeholder disengagement, recurring support patterns, or misalignment between product capabilities and the customer roadmap. I would pair the signal with a technical account plan and recommended next actions.
