Sample interview questions
How do you ensure terminological consistency across a clinical-trial translation project?

I begin by reviewing client reference materials, approved glossaries, translation memories, and protocol-specific terminology. I maintain a project termbase in the CAT tool, flag uncertain terms early, and perform a final consistency check across key clinical terms, abbreviations, and patient-facing language.

What is your approach to machine translation post-editing for pharmacovigilance content?

I first assess whether the MT output preserves the source meaning, clinical terminology, negation, dates, and safety-event details. I then edit to the required quality level, ensure the Polish text is grammatically and stylistically appropriate, and verify that no critical safety information has been omitted or altered.

How do you handle strict, non-extendable deadlines without compromising quality?

I estimate effort based on word count, complexity, reference availability, and review requirements before accepting work. I use CAT-tool leverage efficiently, prioritize high-risk sections for focused review, communicate blockers immediately, and reserve time for final QA rather than treating delivery as the end of translation.

Describe your experience with clinical and regulatory document types such as ICFs, SmPCs, or PSURs.

I understand that these documents have different audiences and regulatory purposes. For example, ICFs require clear patient-friendly language, while SmPCs and PSURs require precise, controlled terminology and close alignment with source content, approved references, and formatting conventions.

How would you manage a terminology issue when the source wording is ambiguous?

I would investigate the context, consult approved client resources and authoritative medical references, and document the issue in a query when needed. I would not guess on a clinically meaningful ambiguity; I would propose a reasoned option and request clarification through the established project workflow.
