Sample interview questions
I would define a clear design-token system, accessible component APIs, semantic versioning, documentation, and automated visual and unit tests. I would also establish ownership, contribution standards, and a release process so teams can adopt updates safely without creating inconsistent forks.
I would first measure real user performance using browser profiling and product telemetry. Based on the findings, I would prioritize route-level code splitting, efficient data fetching and caching, virtualization for large lists, memoization only where justified, image optimization, and reduction of unnecessary renders.
I would use strong authentication and authorization, validate inputs on the server, avoid exposing sensitive data in the client, and apply least-privilege access. For resilience, I would use timeouts, retries with backoff where appropriate, idempotent operations, clear error handling, monitoring, and graceful user-facing fallback states.
I use AI tools to accelerate repetitive implementation, exploration, test generation, and documentation, while retaining engineering ownership of architecture and review. Generated code must pass the same security checks, tests, style standards, and human review as any other contribution.
I would clarify the problem, help them break work into deliverable milestones, and review their design before implementation. During development, I would provide timely, actionable feedback through pairing and code reviews, explain the reasoning behind tradeoffs, and gradually increase their ownership of technical decisions.
