Sample interview questions
I compare the candidate word’s denotation, connotation, register, grammar, and common usage with the intended context. I would reject a technically related term if it changes the tone, specificity, or naturalness of the original meaning.
I first identify the intended concept and audience, then assess each phrase for semantic relevance, correctness, idiomatic use, and consistency. I document problematic items with concise explanations and suggest alternatives that better fit the target meaning.
I would use the available context and project guidelines to identify the most likely intended meaning. If the context remains insufficient, I would flag the ambiguity clearly and explain the possible interpretations rather than making an unsupported assumption.
I use a consistent review checklist, take brief breaks to avoid attention fatigue, and periodically revisit borderline decisions for consistency. I also keep notes on recurring linguistic patterns and guideline interpretations.
I would note that the phrase is grammatically acceptable but not idiomatic or natural in the given context. I would propose one or more native-sounding alternatives and briefly explain the difference in tone, collocation, or register.
