Sample interview questions
How would you prepare a concert tour for a successful onsale?

I would build a readiness plan covering ticket inventory, pricing and promotional inputs, venue and promoter approvals, customer-support preparation, technical checks, and escalation contacts. I would track each dependency in a shared checklist, run a final stakeholder review, and monitor early sales signals closely after launch.

Describe how you would use performance data to improve an underperforming show.

I would first compare pace, conversion, channel performance, inventory mix, and historical benchmarks to identify where performance diverges. I would then align with the promoter, venue, and internal commercial teams on targeted actions such as messaging, pricing, inventory adjustments, or additional marketing support, and measure the effect of each intervention.

How do you manage competing priorities across multiple active events?

I prioritize work by event timing, commercial impact, customer risk, and dependency criticality. I maintain a clear operating cadence with status tracking and escalation paths, communicate trade-offs early, and reserve capacity for urgent onsale or client issues.

How would you handle a promoter who is dissatisfied with event performance?

I would respond promptly, acknowledge the concern, and establish a fact-based view of the event’s performance and current actions. I would communicate transparently about controllable levers, coordinate the appropriate internal experts, agree on next steps and ownership, and provide consistent follow-up until the issue is resolved.

What should an executive dashboard for a touring portfolio include?

It should show active and upcoming shows, sales pace against forecast or benchmark, revenue and inventory indicators, onsale status, key risks, major client actions, and material opportunities. The dashboard should highlight exceptions and trends so leaders can make decisions quickly rather than review operational detail.
