Sample interview questions
How have you managed Engineering Change Orders from initiation through release?

I review the request for completeness and affected items, coordinate technical and operational approvals, confirm BOM and revision impacts, and release the approved change in PLM. I also track implementation status and communicate timing or risks to all affected stakeholders.

What controls do you use to maintain BOM accuracy for complex assemblies and PCBAs?

I use defined part-number and revision rules, validate parent-child relationships, check approved manufacturer and supplier data, and conduct structured reviews before release. I also ensure ECOs are linked to affected BOMs so that changes remain traceable.

Describe your experience using Arena PLM. Which functions are most relevant to this role?

I have used Arena PLM to manage items, BOMs, revisions, document attachments, change orders, workflows, and approvals. The most relevant functions are controlled releases, change tracking, BOM maintenance, and providing stakeholders with a reliable source of product data.

How do you handle an urgent engineering change that could affect a product-launch date?

I first assess the scope, dependencies, and required approvals, then establish a clear expedited workflow with engineering, operations, and program management. I maintain documentation quality while communicating owners, deadlines, risks, and decisions frequently to prevent avoidable delays.

How do you build effective working relationships with engineering and operations teams?

I make processes transparent, respond reliably, and explain how documentation requirements protect manufacturing and product quality. By understanding each team's priorities and providing concise status updates, I can resolve issues collaboratively rather than acting only as a gatekeeper.
