Sample interview questions
I first confirm the intended use, target audience, reference materials, and applicable client terminology. I perform a structured linguistic and technical review covering medical accuracy, consistency, readability, formatting, and regulatory terminology, then resolve queries with documented rationale and complete a final quality check before delivery.
I establish approved bilingual terms from client references, prior validated content, regulatory sources, and subject-matter review. Each entry includes context, definition, part of speech, prohibited variants where needed, and approval status; I maintain version control and communicate updates to all assigned linguists.
I would assess the affected files, identify the scope and root cause, compare usage against approved resources, and coordinate corrections with the relevant linguists and quality stakeholders. I would provide the client with a clear corrective-action plan and implement preventive measures such as glossary updates, reviewer guidance, or workflow checks.
I use CAT tools to maintain translation memory leverage, terminology consistency, traceability, and quality checks. For MT post-editing, I apply a risk-based approach: I validate meaning, clinical terminology, omissions, fluency, and compliance with client style requirements rather than accepting output solely because it is linguistically fluent.
I prioritize work by delivery risk, regulatory impact, client commitments, and available capacity. I set clear milestones, assign resources based on specialty and performance data, track queries and progress proactively, and escalate early when a quality or schedule risk requires a decision.
