American Public University System (APUS) is a private, for-profit, online university system headquartered in Charles Town, West Virginia. Founded in 1991 as American Military University (AMU), APUS now consists of two member institutions: American Military University and American Public University. The system is wholly owned by American Public Education, Inc. (NASDAQ: APEI), a publicly traded corporation.

APUS specializes in providing high-quality, relevant, and accessible higher education to the nation’s military and public service communities.
