About Temple University
Temple University is a public research university based in Philadelphia, where we serve a diverse student body through a wide range of academic programs and professional pathways. Our university traces its origins to 1884, when it began as an evening school created to expand educational access for working people in the city. Today, we offer more than 600 academic programs across undergraduate, graduate, and professional study. Our academic structure spans fields such as business, health professions, engineering, media, education, liberal arts, law, and the sciences, allowing students to pursue both broad intellectual growth and career-focused preparation. We are committed to providing access, opportunity, and practical learning experiences that support student achievement. Our location in Philadelphia gives students access to a major urban center, where we connect classroom learning with internships, research, clinical experiences, and community engagement. As a research university, we emphasize discovery, innovation, and public impact. Our faculty and students participate in research and creative work that address real-world challenges while contributing to scholarship, professional practice, and community well-being. We also value inclusion and global engagement. Our community brings together students from many backgrounds, and our programs and services are designed to support academic success, personal development, and belonging. Through that approach, we aim to help students graduate prepared to lead, serve, and make a difference.
