Key Skills

VMware Cloud Engineering vSphere NSX vSAN Terraform Python Kubernetes Security Clearance AWS

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to express my strong interest in the Senior VMWare Cloud Engineer position at ManTech. With over 8 years of experience in cloud engineering and a deep expertise in VMware technologies including vSphere, NSX, and vSAN, I am confident in my ability to contribute to the CASTLE-NET Program. My background includes designing and managing hybrid cloud environments, automating infrastructure with Terraform and Python, and ensuring high availability and security for mission-critical systems.

I hold a Secret security clearance and relevant certifications such as VCP-CMA and AWS Solutions Architect. I am excited about the opportunity to support the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and deliver innovative IT solutions. Thank you for considering my application.

Sincerely, [Your Name]

Describe your experience with VMware vSphere and how you have ensured high availability in a production environment.
I have 8+ years managing vSphere clusters, implementing HA, DRS, and FT to ensure uptime. For example, I configured a 4-node cluster with vSAN storage, enabling automatic failover and load balancing, achieving 99.99% availability.
How would you approach migrating a private cloud to a public cloud using VMware HCX?
I would assess the current environment, plan the migration strategy (bulk or lift-and-shift), set up HCX connectors, and test network extensions. I would then migrate workloads in phases, monitoring performance and rollback plans.
Can you explain the role of NSX in network virtualization and how you have used it for security?
NSX provides micro-segmentation and distributed firewalls. I have used it to create security policies isolating application tiers, reducing attack surface. For instance, I implemented zero-trust zones for a multi-tenant cloud.
What is your experience with Infrastructure as Code, specifically Terraform?
I have used Terraform to automate provisioning of VMware resources like VMs and networks. For example, I wrote modules to deploy consistent environments across vSphere and AWS, reducing deployment time by 60%.
How do you stay current with cloud technologies and ensure compliance with federal security requirements?
I regularly attend VMware conferences, earn certifications, and follow NIST guidelines. In my previous role, I ensured systems met FedRAMP requirements by implementing continuous monitoring and automated compliance checks.
