Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to express my strong interest in the Medical Health Physicist position at Fluke Health Solutions. With a Master's degree in Health Physics and over two years of hands-on experience with radiation machines, I am confident in my ability to contribute to your team. My background includes performing diagnostic equipment testing, radiation shielding surveys, and ensuring regulatory compliance, all while maintaining a focus on client safety.

I am particularly drawn to this role because of the opportunity to serve as a Radiation Safety Officer and collaborate with healthcare professionals. I am on track to obtain my CHP certification and am eager to apply my skills in a dynamic environment that values growth and innovation.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the possibility of discussing how I can support Fluke Health Solutions' mission.

Sincerely,
Your Name

Can you describe your experience with performing radiation shielding surveys and estimating lead thickness?
In my previous role, I conducted shielding surveys for multiple healthcare facilities using established protocols. I measured exposure rates, calculated required lead thickness based on occupancy factors and workload, and provided detailed reports. I am familiar with NCRP guidelines and have used survey meters and software for analysis.
How do you stay current with regulatory changes in radiation safety?
I subscribe to updates from the NRC, state agencies, and professional organizations like the Health Physics Society. I also attend webinars and conferences, and I am pursuing CHP certification to ensure my knowledge remains current.
Describe a time you had to communicate complex radiation safety concepts to non-technical healthcare staff.
During a quarterly audit, I explained the importance of lead apron integrity to radiology technicians. I used simple analogies and visual aids to demonstrate how even small tears can compromise protection, and provided a checklist for regular inspections. This improved compliance and reduced exposure risks.
What experience do you have with MQSA physics testing?
I have completed MQSA physics testing as part of my training, including evaluating mammography units for image quality, dose, and compliance. I am working towards passing the MQSA physics test within a year, and I am familiar with the required documentation and procedures.
How do you manage travel and multiple client sites effectively?
I plan my schedule in advance, grouping sites geographically to minimize travel time. I use a mobile office setup and maintain clear communication with clients to confirm appointments. I also keep a flexible mindset to handle urgent requests while ensuring all tasks are completed thoroughly.
