Cover letter sample

Dear Hiring Team,

I am writing to express my interest in the Part Time Remote Licensed Talk Therapist position at Thriveworks. As a licensed clinician in California with extensive experience providing evidence-based therapy to diverse populations, I am excited about the opportunity to join a clinician-led organization that prioritizes both client care and provider support. My background includes working with adults, couples, and children through telehealth, and I am comfortable using EHR systems to maintain accurate and timely documentation. I am drawn to Thriveworks because of its commitment to removing administrative burdens and fostering a collaborative clinical community. I look forward to contributing my skills and dedication to your team.

Sample interview questions
Can you describe your experience providing telehealth therapy and the techniques you use to build rapport remotely?

I have provided telehealth therapy for over three years, using video platforms to maintain eye contact and ensure a private setting. I emphasize active listening and check in regularly with clients about their comfort with the virtual format. I also use screen sharing for worksheets and mindfulness exercises to keep sessions interactive. Building consistency and structure helps clients feel safe and engaged despite the physical distance.

How do you handle a client who is experiencing a crisis during a session?

I remain calm and assess the level of risk, asking direct questions about safety and suicidal ideation. I use safety planning, connect the client with emergency resources if needed, and follow up as appropriate. I also discuss the situation with my clinical supervisor during case consultation. Documentation is completed thoroughly to ensure continuity of care.

How do you approach working with couples or children in therapy?

I use evidence-based modalities such as Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples and play therapy techniques for children. I involve parents in treatment planning and provide psychoeducation to support progress outside sessions. For couples, I focus on communication patterns and emotional needs. I also consult with other professionals when necessary to ensure the best outcomes.

How do you stay current with best practices in mental health?

I regularly attend CEU trainings and webinars on topics like trauma-informed care and emerging therapies. I am part of professional organizations and participate in peer consultation groups. I also read journals and use in-house training opportunities provided by employers. Continuous learning is essential to providing evidence-based care.

How do you manage your caseload and documentation efficiently, especially in a remote setting?

I prioritize time management by scheduling sessions with adequate breaks and setting aside time for notes immediately after each session. I use EHR templates and dictation tools to streamline documentation. I also track client progress goals and review treatment plans regularly. This ensures high-quality care while maintaining a manageable workload.
