Cover letter sample

Dear Hiring Team,

I am excited to apply for the Telehealth Physician role at Solace. My board-certified clinical background, patient-centered communication style, and experience coordinating complex care would allow me to partner effectively with advocates and support patients facing medical and social barriers.

I am particularly drawn to Solace’s mission of improving healthcare navigation and outcomes for vulnerable populations. I bring a practical, action-oriented approach to care planning, clear documentation, and rapid adoption of new clinical technologies and workflows.

I would welcome the opportunity to help build an exceptional virtual-care program and contribute thoughtful clinical feedback as Solace scales. Thank you for your consideration.

Sample interview questions
How do you prioritize care for a patient with multiple medical and social needs?

I begin by identifying immediate clinical risks, medication or access barriers, and the patient’s stated goals. I then work with the care team to create a prioritized plan with clear ownership, timelines, and follow-up checkpoints, while ensuring the patient understands and agrees with next steps.

How do you communicate effectively with patients who have limited health literacy?

I use plain language, active listening, teach-back methods, and a nonjudgmental tone. I tailor the discussion to the patient’s health literacy, cultural context, and practical constraints so the care plan is both understandable and achievable.

How would you collaborate with healthcare advocates in this model?

I view advocates as essential partners who can surface barriers that may not be apparent in a clinical encounter. I provide clear clinical guidance, remain available for escalation, and collaborate on practical interventions involving transportation, home support, food access, and care coordination.

Describe how you work in a fast-changing clinical or startup environment.

I stay effective by focusing on patient safety, clarity of priorities, and rapid feedback loops. When processes change, I learn the rationale, adopt the new workflow quickly, document gaps I observe, and offer constructive recommendations based on frontline patient experience.

How do you maintain high-quality care and documentation in a telehealth setting?

I protect quality through structured documentation, concise care plans, consistent follow-up practices, and appropriate escalation of urgent issues. Technology should reduce administrative friction, but I ensure that virtual interactions still preserve empathy, clinical rigor, and continuity of care.

About the Role

Healthcare is broken. If you’ve worked in healthcare for any period of time, you know this. Solace connects people to healthcare advocates who solve the problems they face in accessing care, and the physician plays an important role in this.

As a Solace Physician, you will build strong relationships and facilitate an unparalleled advocacy experience for our patients. In this role, you will collaborate with healthcare advocates to help our patients achieve their health goals to foster exceptional outcomes. By contributing to the development of a new patient care program, you will ensure that Solace is well-equipped to optimally serve a vulnerable population.

What You’ll Do

  • Be able to identify and prioritize patients’ needs and maintain a streamlined care continuum.

  • Oversee patient care plans in partnership with healthcare advocates to holistically address social determinants of health, i.e. food resources, transportation access, and support at home.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Board certification in family medicine, internal medicine or other relevant speciality.

  • Strong clinical skills paired with excellent organizational skills. You can balance multiple tasks and work under pressure without sacrificing organization in your communications and documentation.

  • Superior communication skills, as listening and empathy are the foundation for every patient interaction at Solace.

  • You’re equally comfortable working with elderly patients as you are with individuals undergoing Social Determinants of Health.

  • Pride in your technical savvy. You have the ability to quickly and fluently learn new systems and softwares.

  • Extreme bias toward action and execution. You care about forging the system that empowers better patient outcomes, and you’re not shy about sharing your feedback.

  • Embrace change and iteration. You understand that rapid changes to the business, strategy, organization, and priorities is par for the course.

Applicants must be based in the United States.
