Sample interview questions
I would prepare by reviewing background materials and tailoring questions to each executive's domain. During the workshop, I would use structured techniques like value stream mapping and '5 Whys' to distinguish symptoms from root causes. I would also listen actively, document assumptions, and prioritize outcomes that align with business strategy. Finally, I would synthesize findings into a clear problem statement and agreed success metrics.
I once worked on a project to deploy a customer support chatbot using a large language model. I collaborated with legal and compliance teams to define guardrails and acceptable use policies. I specified human-in-the-loop interactions for escalations and defined data privacy requirements such as PII redaction. I also established performance metrics like response accuracy and hallucination rate, and worked with ML engineers to create test cases.
I start by measuring the current state metrics such as cycle time, error rates, and labor costs. I then model the future state with automation or augmentation, estimating improvements in those metrics. I also factor in qualitative benefits like customer satisfaction or employee experience. Using a scoring model, I prioritize projects based on business impact, implementation complexity, and strategic alignment.
I believe in early and transparent communication. I engage stakeholders as partners, listen to their concerns, and demonstrate quick wins to build trust. I also involve them in design and testing so they feel ownership. Additionally, I ensure comprehensive training and support, and I adjust the roadmap based on their feedback to reduce resistance.
I use tools like Claude and Glean to draft user stories, summarize interview transcripts, and generate process documentation. However, I always validate the output against the original source material and my own expertise. I set up a review checklist covering accuracy, completeness, and tone. I also keep 'human-in-the-loop' to ensure sensitive or nuanced requirements are not lost.
