Cover letter sample
Dear Hiring Team,
I am excited to apply for the Senior Product Director, Local Growth role at OKX. My product and growth leadership experience includes building localized consumer experiences in emerging markets, owning acquisition-to-retention funnels, and translating market, regulatory, and payment insights into prioritized product roadmaps.
I would bring a business-owner mindset to improve local onboarding, fiat flows, trading conversion, and retention while aligning regional commercial teams with global product and engineering partners. I am particularly drawn to OKX’s opportunity to build competitive local exchange experiences across Latin America and would welcome the opportunity to discuss how I can help accelerate sustainable growth.
Sincerely,
[Your Name]
Sample interview questions
I would start by segmenting the funnel by acquisition source, user cohort, device, payment method, and geography to isolate the largest drop-off points. I would combine behavioral data with user interviews and payment-failure analysis, then prioritize experiments such as localized KYC guidance, preferred payment rails, trust messaging, and simplified first-trade journeys. Success would be measured through activation, first-trade conversion, time-to-first-trade, and D7/D30 retention.
I would use a market scorecard covering addressable demand, regulatory feasibility, payment-rail readiness, competitive intensity, unit economics, and operational dependencies. I would pair the quantitative score with local customer research and partner input, identify the smallest viable launch scope, and define clear expansion gates based on activation, liquidity, retention, and compliance outcomes.
In a prior 0-to-1 expansion, I would explain the market context, the funnel metric I owned, the customer insight behind the intervention, and the cross-functional execution model. For example, I might describe launching a locally preferred payment integration and onboarding flow, testing it against a control cohort, and scaling it after it improved funded-account activation and reduced time-to-first-transaction. The key is to show measurable impact, sound experimentation, and sustainable operational ownership.
I would establish shared objectives and a transparent prioritization framework that ties local requests to customer impact, revenue potential, regulatory urgency, engineering effort, and strategic reuse across markets. I would bring evidence from funnel data, customer feedback, and partner commitments, define accountable owners and milestones, and communicate trade-offs early. This approach helps regional teams feel represented while allowing global teams to make scalable platform decisions.
I would treat regulatory requirements and payment infrastructure as core product inputs rather than downstream constraints. Before launch, I would partner with legal, compliance, operations, and local providers to map required disclosures, KYC/AML flows, transaction limits, settlement processes, and failure handling. I would then incorporate those requirements into the roadmap and monitor user friction and operational risk after release.

About The Opportunity
OKX is building local exchange businesses from the ground up across multiple emerging and high-growth markets. We are looking for a product leader who has driven a complete 0-to-1 cycle in a priority overseas market — someone who will own the product strategy and local growth playbook for a specific region or country, and be directly accountable for product competitiveness and business growth outcomes in that market.
This role sits at the intersection of the Local business team and Global product and engineering. You’ll go deep into the local market — translating user profiles, regulatory landscapes, and competitive dynamics into product and growth strategies — while driving Global product and engineering resources to deliver locally, ensuring the product experience and competitiveness actually take off on the ground.
We are not prescriptive about which specific region you’ve built in previously — LatAm, Southeast Asia, Turkey, MENA, or others are all relevant. What matters is that you have personally built a business in an emerging market, closed the growth loop, and can transfer that methodology to OKX’s priority regions.
This is a product leadership role, not a country general manager role — but you need to operate with near business-owner accountability: responsible for the region’s core growth metrics and product competitiveness, not just shipping features.
What You’ll Be Doing
Regional Product Strategy & Local Growth Planning
Own product strategy and local growth planning for a specific region or country, working across the Local business team and Global product and engineering to be directly accountable for local product competitiveness and business growth outcomes.
Develop a deep understanding of local user profiles, legal and regulatory frameworks, competitive landscapes, and cultural nuances, and translate these into a comprehensive product competition strategy and channel growth strategy with clear prioritization.
Continuously track the local crypto and fintech ecosystem — with a focus on global players and regional leaders across exchanges and fintech — as well as macro factors such as inflation, currency depreciation, and cross-border remittance demand that shape user trading behavior.
Local Product Experience & Competitiveness
Own the end-to-end local product experience and competitiveness, covering onboarding, fiat deposit, market analysis, trading, and earn — the core stages of the user journey.
Build a comprehensive local product feedback loop — from user behavior data and funnel analysis, to local user feedback collection — to identify key bottlenecks and high-leverage opportunities in conversion, retention, and engagement, and drive iterative improvement.
Adapt to local market characteristics (inflation-driven demand, competitor switching costs, payment method preferences, etc.) to reduce drop-off from registration to first trade and shorten time-to-first-trade.
Channel Growth & Cross-team Collaboration
Work with local teams to identify effective user acquisition channels; lead the discovery, introduction, integration, and scaling of high-impact channels.
Leverage your local network — KOLs, fintech partners, payment providers, regulatory contacts — to accelerate market entry and growth.
Collaborate closely with regional BD, Marketing, Operations, and Global product and engineering to ensure product initiatives align with local growth objectives.
What We Look For In You
0-to-1 business building and growth experience in an emerging market (e.g., LatAm, Southeast Asia, Turkey, MENA, or similar) — you can clearly articulate the regional metrics you owned and the business outcomes you delivered. You held a product, strategy, or growth role during the early stage of an international expansion at a tech company or at a high-growth local champion in the region.
Comprehensive business growth and user growth methodology — you have fully owned a user funnel (acquisition → activation → retention) and can speak to results with data: CAC, activation rates, D7/D30 retention, LTV, reactivation. Your work was growth experimentation and product intervention, not just media buying.
Strong product management capability — you can define product strategy and success metrics, prioritize a roadmap, drive A/B testing, and collaborate with product and engineering to deliver. This is a product leadership role, not a GM or pure growth marketing role.
Proven cross-functional collaboration — able to drive alignment across teams (design, engineering, data, commercial), manage external partnerships, and navigate regulatory conversations. Effective at aligning resources between Local and Global organizations.
Deep local market knowledge and an established local network — you understand local user behaviors, payment ecosystems (e.g., PIX, SPEI, Mercado Pago, UPI, GCash, DANA, M-Pesa, depending on region), regulatory environments, and competitive dynamics. You have partners, KOLs, and industry relationships in the region that you can activate.
Consumer product management experience in fintech, crypto, or trading preferred. Candidates with experience managing or mentoring product teams will be considered for the Senior Product Director level.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Proficiency in Mandarin is a strong plus for effective collaboration with HQ teams.
Nice-To-Haves
Proficiency in a local language relevant to the target region (Spanish, Portuguese, Bahasa Indonesia, Arabic, Turkish, etc.).
Crypto exchange product experience — spot/derivatives trading, order types, fee structures, token listings, and fiat on/off-ramp flows.
Familiarity with local payment rails and fiat-to-crypto conversion flows in emerging markets.
Hands-on trading experience in FX, equities, or crypto.
Perks & Benefits
Competitive total compensation package
L&D programs and Education subsidy for employees’ growth and development
Various team building programs and company events
Wellness and meal allowances
Comprehensive healthcare schemes for employees and dependants
More that we love to tell you along the process!
