Cover letter sample
Dear Hiring Team,
I am excited to apply for the Contract Senior Front-End Engineer role at Fueled. I bring senior-level experience building performant, accessible, component-driven web experiences with React, Next.js, WordPress themes, custom CSS, and Tailwind CSS.
I am comfortable translating ambitious designs into resilient cross-browser interfaces, contributing thoughtful code reviews, and communicating technical tradeoffs clearly to both clients and distributed teammates. I would welcome the opportunity to bring strong ownership, front-end craft, and pragmatic use of AI-enabled workflows to Fueled's digital product work.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sample interview questions
I would start by reviewing the design system, content model, and accessibility requirements, then define reusable semantic components and tokens for spacing, typography, color, and interaction states. I would validate the implementation continuously across breakpoints and browsers, use progressive enhancement where appropriate, and measure performance with Lighthouse and real-user-oriented metrics.
I would first profile the issue to identify whether it comes from rendering, JavaScript execution, images, fonts, third-party scripts, or network behavior. For a Next.js application, I would apply techniques such as route-level code splitting, optimized images and fonts, server rendering or static generation where appropriate, and selective client-side hydration. I would then confirm improvement through Core Web Vitals and repeatable performance testing.
I would build blocks around clear editor controls, predictable data structures, and presentation components that keep content concerns separate from layout logic. I would ensure generated markup is semantic, support keyboard and screen-reader interactions, and provide sensible defaults so editors can create consistent pages without relying on custom code.
In code review, I focus on correctness, maintainability, accessibility, performance, and consistency with established patterns rather than personal preferences. I explain the impact of requested changes, offer concrete alternatives, and distinguish blocking concerns from optional improvements so reviews remain constructive and efficient.
I would clarify the underlying user and business goal, identify constraints such as browser support, timeline, content, and performance budgets, and present viable options with their tradeoffs. I would use concise visuals or prototypes where useful, avoid unnecessary jargon, and document the agreed decision so design, engineering, and the client remain aligned.
