About this role.
Qventus is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to serve as technical lead for its Web Applications Platform team. The role owns technical direction and roadmap collaboration for shared platform services such as identity, configuration, and deployment into isolated hospital environments. It requires deep hands-on experience with Python, Django, FastAPI, Kubernetes, GitOps, Helm, ArgoCD, and authentication/authorization systems. The engineer will influence multiple application teams and establish safe, compliant standards for AI coding tools in a healthcare technology environment. Strong planning, stakeholder communication, and architectural leadership are central to success.

Sample interview questions
I would define a standardized GitOps-based delivery model with versioned Helm charts, environment-specific configuration controls, policy enforcement, and auditable promotion paths. I would isolate tenant credentials and secrets, apply least-privilege access controls, and establish reliable rollback and observability practices. The platform should offer paved roads that let product teams deploy independently while preserving security and compliance requirements.
I start by making the desired outcomes, constraints, and architectural principles explicit with stakeholders. I break the roadmap into small, measurable initiatives, delegate ownership where appropriate, and personally contribute to high-risk design or implementation work. I use written decisions, regular status communication, and technical reviews to keep teams aligned without becoming a delivery bottleneck.
The system must use strong identity controls, least-privilege authorization, tenant isolation, secure session and token handling, comprehensive audit logging, and clear lifecycle processes for users and service accounts. I would ensure authorization is consistently enforced at service boundaries and tested against cross-tenant access risks. HIPAA and PHI-related requirements also demand careful data minimization, monitoring, and incident-response readiness.
I would begin with narrowly scoped, measurable use cases and provide curated context through approved documentation, coding standards, and service interfaces. Guardrails would include access restrictions, secret and PHI protections, automated security and quality checks, human review requirements, and evaluations for agent output. Adoption should be tracked with metrics such as cycle time, defect rates, review burden, and security findings before expanding usage.
I would identify repeated friction through developer interviews and delivery metrics, then prioritize a high-leverage platform capability such as service templates, a developer portal, or standardized CI/CD workflows. I would provide clear documentation, sensible defaults, self-service workflows, and migration support. Success would be measured by adoption, reduced setup time, deployment reliability, and fewer support requests to the platform team.

About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to be the technical lead of our Web Applications Platform team. This team builds the foundation under every application at Qventus. They own all shared services, including authentication/identity and configuration. The platform team also owns the build and deployment path that carries code into each hospital customer’s isolated environment.
Platform’s customers are other engineering teams, so the work is measured by how efficiently and safely they can create and then grow our applications.
You’ll be the technical lead of a team composed of several other engineers. That means setting technical direction, owning the roadmap in collaboration with stakeholders, and writing code or configurations as needed. Your highest-leverage work will be cross-team efforts to make great architectural choices that impact a half dozen applications. This role reports to an engineering manager, who is responsible for team health and career growth.
This role is also central to defining how engineering benefits from AI coding tools: the standards, the context that makes agents genuinely useful, and the guardrails that keep our codebase and deployed apps secure and compliant.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years building and operating production software
- Experience on a platform, infrastructure, internal tools, or developer-facing team
- Strong Python, Django, and FastAPI skills
- Real depth in Kubernetes and GitOps delivery (Helm, ArgoCD)
- Experience owning an authentication / authorization system
- Excellent project management skills: breaking down, estimating, sequencing, and communicating about work in progress
- Clear written and verbal communication; influential beyond one team
Bonus Points For
- Multi-tenant SaaS experience
- Backstage, internal developer portals, or service scaffolding tooling
- Healthcare tech knowledge: HIPAA, PHI/PII, Epic and Cerner integrations, SMART on FHIR
- Terraform, Jenkins, Datadog and/or APM in general
- Built or rolled out agent-based dev tooling: MCP servers, coding agents, matrixed evals, spec-driven workflows, shared knowledge bases
