Sample interview questions
Describe how you would investigate a production service degradation in GCP.

I would first assess impact through dashboards, alerts, and service-level indicators, then correlate logs, metrics, traces, and recent deployments. I would stabilize the service using a documented rollback, scaling, or traffic-management action where appropriate, communicate status clearly, and capture findings for a blameless post-incident review.

How have you used automation to reduce operational toil?

I identify repetitive, error-prone tasks and automate them with version-controlled scripts or infrastructure-as-code. For example, I would automate environment provisioning, health checks, alert remediation, or scheduled maintenance using Python or Bash alongside tools such as Terraform and CI/CD pipelines.

What practices would you use to make Kubernetes workloads highly available?

I would use multiple replicas, readiness and liveness probes, resource requests and limits, pod disruption budgets, autoscaling, and resilient deployment strategies. I would also ensure monitoring covers cluster health, workload saturation, error rates, and application-level service objectives.

How do you approach security and compliance in cloud infrastructure?

I apply least-privilege IAM, separate environments, encrypt data in transit and at rest, manage secrets securely, and maintain audit logging. I also use repeatable infrastructure-as-code reviews and continuous checks to identify configuration drift and compliance gaps early.

How do you prepare for and participate effectively in a 24/7 on-call rotation?

I make sure runbooks, dashboards, ownership boundaries, and escalation paths are current before incidents occur. During an incident, I prioritize customer impact and safe mitigation, provide concise updates, and afterward improve alerts, documentation, and automation so the same issue is less likely to recur.
