RevenueCat is seeking a senior DevOps/Developer Experience engineer to scale its internal development platform in a remote-first engineering organization. The role centers on building self-service tooling, CI/CD automation, infrastructure abstractions, release systems, access workflows, and safe developer productivity practices. The engineer will work extensively with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Pulumi, Python, GitHub, and internal platform services. This position also includes shaping responsible adoption of AI and agentic development tools while maintaining strong security and architectural standards.

I would explain the initial developer friction, gather baseline measures such as lead time or deployment failure rate, and design a self-service workflow with secure defaults. I would pilot it with a small group, incorporate feedback, document the supported path, and track adoption and operational outcomes after rollout.
I would provide standardized service templates, policy-controlled infrastructure definitions, automated checks, progressive delivery such as canaries, observability requirements, and clear rollback paths. Teams should be able to deploy independently, while platform guardrails enforce identity, network, security, and reliability standards.
I favor reusable components that encode approved patterns for services, networking, secrets, monitoring, and access controls. I would use code review, automated previews, policy-as-code, environment separation, and tested abstractions so teams can safely provision infrastructure without duplicating low-level configuration.
I would begin with targeted use cases, define data-handling and security boundaries, and run a measured pilot with representative engineers. Adoption should include training, practical guidelines, feedback loops, and metrics on productivity and code quality, while retaining human review and architectural accountability.
I assess impact using developer time saved, reliability risk reduced, strategic alignment, breadth of users, and implementation cost. I make prioritization transparent, address urgent reliability or security issues quickly, and balance foundational platform investments with smaller improvements that remove immediate friction.

The role:
We are looking for a Senior, proactive DevOps / DevEx Engineer to join our engineering team and help building and scaling the internal development platform. You would be building the tools, services and automation that empower the rest of our engineering team to ship safely and fast.
RevenueCat invests heavily in tooling. We already have custom services for CI/CD, automated one-push-per-commit releases with automatic canaries, Feature Flags, DB query approval workflows, VPN access workflows. We are using Pulumi and python for IaC to describe k8s services and associated infrastructure in a single place. We want to provide autonomy, build a self-serve culture that allows teams to move fast but ensures safety and best practices.
The advent of IA and agentic development is going to change a lot of things, and you will help shape this future fostering adoption while ensuring our security and architectural standards remain sane.

About you:
You are a builder: You don’t just use tools; you build them. You have 5+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, DevEx or Platform Engineering with a heavy emphasis on software development.
You are proactive: You see what is needed, you take action and own problems to turn them into solutions.
You love building frameworks, abstractions and automation: You see that the best way to ensure best practices are follow is to make something so easy and joyfull to use that nobody wants to use anything else.
You are AI-curious: You understand how LLMs and AI coding tools are changing engineering and want to help a world-class team leverage them effectively.
You move fast, test and iterate quickly.

In the first month, you’ll:
Meet your team!
Get up to speed on our unique infrastructure-as-code patterns.
Familiarize yourself with our existing internal tools for releases, canaries, and access control.
Ship your first project—improving an existing tool or automation.
Within the first 3 months, you’ll:
Be able to scope and work on tasks self-sufficiently.
Understand most of our internals tools and feel confident making changes to them.
Start on-call training.
Participate in code reviews, design reviews, brainstorms.
Within the first 6 months, you’ll:
Design and ship major initiatives and have a positive impact in the engineering team.
Collaborate closely with other engineers, creating ties, understanding their pain points and starting to become more involve in the roadmap and prioritization of new initiatives.
Within the first 12 months, you’ll:
Be the go-to expert for our internal platforms, services and infrastructure abstractions.
Have your own initiatives for improving DevOps and DevEx.
Lead AI tool adoption across the engineering org, following well-established patterns for safety and simplicity.
