Sample interview questions
Describe a complex enterprise deal you closed with several business and technical stakeholders.

I would outline the account context, stakeholder map, decision criteria, and sales strategy. I would explain how I aligned executive sponsors and technical evaluators, quantified the business case, managed objections, and advanced the deal through procurement to a measurable closed-won outcome.

How would you build an ROI case for Branch’s marketplace payments solutions?

I would first establish the customer’s baseline metrics, such as payment timing, worker retention, support volume, operational cost, and adoption. I would then model the financial impact of faster or more flexible payments, validate assumptions with Finance and operational leaders, and present a conservative, transparent value case tied to the customer’s strategic goals.

How do you manage a multi-quarter enterprise sales cycle without losing momentum?

I create a mutual action plan with milestones, owners, decision dates, and defined success criteria. I maintain multithreaded relationships, regularly reconfirm priorities and risks, deliver relevant value between meetings, and use executive alignment to resolve blockers early.

What is your approach to co-selling with a strategic platform or channel partner?

I begin by agreeing on ideal customer profiles, account ownership, qualification standards, and shared objectives. I enable partner sellers with concise positioning and use cases, coordinate joint account plans and customer meetings, and maintain a clear cadence for pipeline reviews and follow-up accountability.

How do you communicate a technical payments solution to both a CFO and an engineering leader?

For a CFO, I focus on financial outcomes, risk management, implementation economics, and ROI. For engineering leaders, I focus on architecture, integrations, security, reliability, and implementation requirements, while ensuring both audiences share a common view of success and next steps.

About the role:

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Enterprise Account Executive to join our Marketplaces sales team. Branch is a leader in the marketplace payments space, with some of the largest labor and delivery marketplaces in the world — including Uber and Instacart — among our largest customers. In this role, you will be responsible for driving new business acquisition and revenue growth by selling our innovative FinTech solutions to enterprise-level clients. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of managing complex sales cycles, building strong relationships with C-level executives, and a deep understanding of the financial services industry.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Own and manage a named book of enterprise and upper‐mid‐market labor and seller marketplace clients to build strategic relationships at C-suite, VP, and director levels.
  • Lead full sales cycles, from inbound and outbound prospecting through contract negotiation and closing.
  • Partner closely with our embedded payments platform partner’s sales organization to jointly identify, pursue, and manage shared accounts — driving co-sell and cross-sell opportunities and enabling their sellers to effectively position Branch within their deals.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive account plans to win new business and expand with existing clients.
  • Work cross‐functionally across Product, Finance, and Engineering to design and deliver custom solutions as part of a technical selling process.
  • Drive and refine the marketplace strategy: help define and scale repeatable engagement models, sales motions, and positioning for Branch’s platform offerings.
  • Use metrics and financial analysis to quantify value propositions and ROI for prospective clients.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to shape product roadmap based on client feedback, competitive landscape, and market demand.
  • Hit or exceed revenue targets, sales quotas, and other KPIs relevant to platform and enterprise deals.

Qualifications (required):

  • 5–8 years of experience in enterprise sales, preferably selling platforms, embedded finance, payments, or infrastructure solutions.
  • Have closed sizable ($500k+ ARR), complex deals (multi-stakeholder, multi-quarter cycles, including technical and non‐technical buyers).
  • Are comfortable engaging senior executives (CTOs, CFOs, COOs) as well as technical leaders (engineers, security / compliance).
  • Have strong product acumen and are capable of understanding and communicating both technical and financial value.
  • Are highly analytical — you know how to build business cases, model ROI, and use data to drive decisions.
  • Are self-motivated, resourceful, and can thrive in a fast‐moving environment that requires both strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
  • Are excellent communicators, both written and verbal.

Qualifications (preferred):

  • Previous experience in fintech, embedded finance, or payments infrastructure.
  • Experience selling into or working with HR technology and vertical SaaS platforms.
  • Familiarity with risk, regulatory, and compliance considerations in financial services.
