Sample interview questions
How have you used financial strategy to create value in a private-equity-backed or transformation-focused company?

I begin by establishing a clear value-creation plan tied to a small set of operating and financial drivers. I then improve reporting cadence, prioritize capital against return thresholds, and partner with functional leaders to turn initiatives into accountable execution plans with measurable outcomes.

How would you approach financial planning for CrossFit’s affiliate and membership-based ecosystem?

I would build an integrated model connecting affiliate growth, retention, member engagement, education, brand investment, and operating costs. The model would include scenario planning and leading indicators so leadership can make timely trade-offs between growth investment, profitability, and long-term ecosystem health.

Describe your experience leading a large, complex P&L through significant change.

In transformation settings, I have focused first on creating a trusted baseline for revenue, margin, cash flow, and cost drivers. I then align leaders around a practical operating plan, communicate decisions transparently, and use regular performance reviews to remove obstacles and maintain momentum.

How do you balance strategic investments with financial discipline?

I evaluate investments through strategic fit, expected return, downside risk, cash requirements, and execution capacity. I protect investments that create durable differentiation while setting explicit milestones and reallocation triggers when results do not support continued funding.

What is your leadership approach for a global finance organization?

I set clear decision rights, common performance standards, and a culture in which finance is both a rigorous steward and a proactive business partner. I invest in developing leaders, ensure teams have reliable data and scalable processes, and make communication direct, timely, and actionable.
