The counsellor must hold a master's degree in Psychology or Counselling and an active Philippine PRC registration as a Registered Psychologist or Registered Psychometrician. Tagalog and English fluency are essential, while prior EAP experience is preferred. The successful candidate must be willing to relocate to Malaysia, with work-permit sponsorship provided but relocation and accommodation costs borne by the employee.

I would remain calm, compassionate, and direct while completing an immediate risk assessment covering intent, plan, means, timeframe, and protective factors. Based on the level of risk, I would follow the EAP's crisis protocol, facilitate urgent local support or emergency intervention, and document the interaction accurately while maintaining confidentiality within legal and clinical limits.
I explain confidentiality and its limits at the beginning of the interaction, verify that the client is in a private and safe setting, and collect only information necessary for care. I follow secure documentation practices and share information only according to consent, organizational policy, and applicable legal or safety requirements.
I match the client's preferred language and communication style while avoiding jargon and checking understanding throughout the session. I remain sensitive to cultural values, family dynamics, and stigma that may affect help-seeking, while maintaining evidence-based and nonjudgmental care.
EAP work requires balancing empathy with brief, goal-oriented intervention and clear knowledge of referral pathways. For a workplace-related concern, I would clarify the employee's needs, assess wellbeing and safety, help identify coping strategies and options, and avoid acting as an investigator or sharing confidential details with the employer without appropriate authorization.
