Sample interview questions
How would you qualify an inbound lead evaluating speech-to-text technology?

I would identify the lead's use case, current workflow, technical environment, decision-making process, timeline, budget context, and measurable success criteria. I would then connect Deepgram's accuracy, latency, deployment options, and scalability to the customer's specific requirements before determining the appropriate next step with an Account Executive or Sales Engineer.

Describe how you would research a company before outreach or a discovery call.

I would review the company's product, customer segments, recent announcements, leadership priorities, and any signals that audio, contact-center, transcription, or voice-agent workflows are relevant. I would use that research to form a concise hypothesis about a speech AI use case and ask focused questions rather than deliver a generic pitch.

How do you manage a high volume of inbound follow-up while maintaining quality?

I prioritize leads using fit, urgency, engagement, and potential business impact, then use structured sequences and CRM tasks to ensure timely follow-up. I personalize the highest-value interactions, track outcomes, and regularly refine messaging and prioritization based on conversion data.

How would you explain a technical AI product to a nontechnical executive?

I would start with the business problem and outcome, such as improving customer experiences, reducing manual transcription work, or enabling a new voice feature. I would avoid unnecessary jargon, use a relevant example, and confirm which success metric matters most before discussing the technical capabilities behind the result.

What does an AI-first sales workflow look like to you?

It means using approved AI tools thoughtfully to accelerate account research, summarize calls, draft and improve outreach, identify patterns in objections, and prepare follow-up actions. I would validate outputs, protect customer data, and use the time saved to deliver more relevant and human customer interactions.
