About this role.
This is a Data Analyst internship on Binance’s Risk/Data team, supporting SQL-based data pipelines, analytics workflows, data standardization, and quality monitoring. The intern will contribute to address parsing, entity resolution, data models, dashboards, reporting, and ad-hoc analysis under senior-team mentorship. The role requires current enrollment in a relevant quantitative or technical degree program, solid SQL skills, and basic Python or another scripting language. I would first profile the fields to understand common formatting issues, then standardize values such as case, punctuation, abbreviations, and address components. I would use deterministic matches for strong identifiers and similarity-based rules for weaker fields, validate match quality with samples, and document thresholds and known limitations.
I would define checks for row counts, freshness, null rates, uniqueness, referential integrity, expected value ranges, and comparisons with historical volumes. I would automate the checks where possible, set alerts for material deviations, and investigate failures by tracing the issue back through source tables and transformations.
I would review the execution plan, reduce unnecessary columns and scans, filter data early, and check join keys and join order. In distributed tools such as Spark or Hive, I would also consider partition pruning, avoiding data skew, and using appropriate aggregations or intermediate tables when justified.
I would begin with the business question, key finding, and recommended action in plain language. I would use a concise dashboard or visual summary, clearly state assumptions and data limitations, and keep supporting technical detail available for stakeholders who need to examine the methodology.
I am interested in the combination of analytical rigor and real-world impact. Risk and fraud problems require identifying meaningful patterns in complex data, balancing false positives and false negatives, and continuously improving controls as behavior changes, which makes the work both challenging and valuable.

We’re looking for a Data Analyst Intern to join the Risk/Data team. The intern will support data pipeline development, SQL-based analytics, and data standardization initiatives under the guidance of senior team members. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience with large-scale data processing in a real business environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in developing and maintaining SQL-based data pipelines and analytics workflows
- Support data standardization and normalization projects (e.g., address parsing, entity resolution)
- Help build and optimize data models, dashboards, and reports
- Conduct ad-hoc data analysis under mentorship and present findings to the team
- Assist in monitoring data quality and implementing validation logic
- Collaborate with team members on cross-functional data projects
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field
- Solid SQL skills, familiarity with Hive/Spark SQL is a plus
- Basic proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python preferred)
- Strong interest in data analytics, risk control, or fraud detection
- Good communication skills, eagerness to learn and take initiative
- Available for at least 3 days per week, minimum 3-month internship duration
