Sample interview questions
How do you identify the right personal-lines coverage for a customer?

I begin with discovery questions about the customer's property, vehicles, current coverage, lender requirements, risk tolerance, and budget. I then explain the relevant options in plain language, compare deductibles, limits, and exclusions, and confirm the customer understands the recommendation before moving to purchase.

How do you balance sales goals with ethical insurance advice?

I treat suitability and accuracy as non-negotiable. I focus on understanding the customer's actual needs, document key details, present appropriate options transparently, and never recommend coverage solely to increase premium or close a sale. This approach builds trust and supports sustainable close rates.

Describe how you manage a high volume of calls and follow-ups while working remotely.

I use a structured workflow with CRM tasks, call notes, prioritized follow-up windows, and calendar blocks for documentation. After each conversation, I capture next steps immediately, send any promised information promptly, and review my pipeline daily so no customer or policy deadline is missed.

What steps do you take before binding an insurance policy?

I verify the applicant and property or vehicle information, confirm selected coverages, limits, deductibles, effective date, payment details, and any lender requirements. I also review required disclosures and documentation, resolve discrepancies, and obtain customer confirmation before completing the binding process.

How do you respond when a customer objects to a quoted premium?

I acknowledge the concern, ask what is driving it, and make sure the customer understands what the quote includes. When appropriate, I review alternative deductible, coverage, bundling, or carrier options without compromising needed protection, then clearly explain the trade-offs so the customer can make an informed decision.
