About this role.
Jamf is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer to automate, operate, and scale the backend cloud infrastructure supporting Jamf Cloud and internal software delivery teams. The role covers infrastructure and configuration as code, CI/CD, cloud-native services, security hardening, observability, data lifecycle controls, and incident response. The engineer will provide technical direction, contribute to Agile planning and code reviews, maintain documentation, and mentor or cross-train colleagues. Candidates need at least three years of relevant experience with operating systems, scripting or programming, source control, issue tracking, and DevOps or systems-administration practices. This is a remote Poland-based position for applicants authorized or sponsored to live and work in Poland.

I would standardize pipelines through reusable templates, version-controlled configuration, least-privilege service identities, and isolated build environments. I would add automated testing, security and dependency scanning, artifact provenance, approval controls for higher-risk releases, and observable deployment metrics so teams can safely self-serve.
I define infrastructure declaratively in version control, enforce peer review and automated validation, and promote changes through environments using a consistent pipeline. This makes infrastructure reproducible, reduces configuration drift, provides an audit trail, and enables rapid recovery when a service or environment must be rebuilt.
I would first confirm impact and scope, check recent changes and key telemetry, and stabilize the service through a rollback, failover, or mitigation when appropriate. I would communicate status clearly, escalate according to the runbook, preserve evidence, and lead a blameless follow-up to address the underlying cause and improve detection or automation.
I favor paved-road tooling that embeds controls directly into the developer workflow rather than relying on manual gates. Examples include secure pipeline templates, policy-as-code, automated scans, short-lived credentials, and clear exception processes, which allow teams to move quickly while maintaining consistent guardrails.
I would pair on real tasks, explain operational tradeoffs, provide small ownership opportunities, and use documentation and runbooks to reinforce learning. I would also hold constructive reviews focused on design thinking, reliability, and security so engineers gain confidence while the team develops shared standards.

What you’ll do at Jamf:
In this role the Senior DevOps Engineer at Jamf is responsible for automation and development of our backend infrastructure that powers the Jamf Cloud that our customers rely on to manage Apple devices in their organizations. This includes providing the internal infrastructure that our Software Development Engineers use to build and deploy Jamf products in the Cloud. This role is offered as remote in Poland.

What you can expect to do in this role:
- Develop, deploy, and maintain production environments by identifying and applying automation, tools, and techniques such as infrastructure as code, configuration as code, serverless, and containerization.
- Ensure security best practices are identified and integrated into system designs and configuration.
- Assist in evaluating, planning, configuration, and implementation of new software services.
- Develop custom tools and automation through programming and scripting.
- Support software development by maintaining and scaling our continuous integration and continuous delivery environment as needed.
- Apply data lifecycle management to sensitive data through backups, permissions management, and auditing.
- Participate in an on-call rotation, triaging and escalating alerts, and assisting in disaster recovery as necessary for services the team is responsible for.
- Member of an Agile team providing code reviews, velocity estimation, planning input, and participating in other Agile methodology workflows.
- Work and communicate effectively with product owners, development teams, and cloud and delivery teams.
- Create and maintain technical documentation.
- Performs other duties as required and completes all job functions as per departmental policies and procedures.
- Responsible for setting technical direction for team responsibilities.
- Cross-train other staff members on new technologies.
- Ability to delegate tasks and mentor others.
What we are looking for:
- Minimum of 3 years experience in one or more of these disciplines:
- Continuous integration tools and techniques (e.g. Jenkins, Bamboo, Github actions).
- Configuration management and deployment tools (e.g. Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
- Systems administration or similar role focused on performance analysis, capacity planning, and forecasting.
- Minimum of 3 years experience as a power user of various operating systems (e.g. MacOS, Linux, Shell scripting) (Required).
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a current programming language (e.g. Java, Python, Golang) (Required).
- Minimum of 3 years experience using source control management tools (e.g. Git, Subversion) (Required).
- Minimjm of 3 years experience using issue tracking software (e.g. JIRA, Salesforce) (Required).
- Experience developing enterprise grade software with understanding of the software development life cycle (Preferred).
- Experience with infrastructure as code techniques (e.g. Terraform, CloudFormation) (Preferred).
- Experience in enterprise security and hardening best practices (Preferred).
- Experience building and maintaining cloud native services (e.g. Amazon Web Services) (Preferred).
- Experience working with monitoring and logging tools (e.g. LogicMonitor, Sumologic, ELK) (Preferred).
- Experience with containerization concepts and Kubernetes (Preferred).
- Experience working with structured databases (e.g. MySQL, DynamoDB) (Preferred).
- Hands-on experience with AI-driven coding assistants like GitHub Copilot, Cursor, others to enhance development productivity.
- Bachelor’s Degree (Preferred).
- A combination of relevant experience and education may be considered.
- Certificates commonly held by those in the role include one or more of: LPIC-1, LPIC-2, LPIC-3, RHCE (RedHat Certified Engineer), AWS Solutions Architect Associate, AWS Certified Developer Associate, AWS Certified SysOps Associate (Preferred).
