About this role.
This entry-level Associate Research Scientist role supports real-world evidence (RWE) studies for pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients. The scientist will assess data feasibility, develop protocols and analysis plans, create analytic datasets, conduct primary and secondary data analyses, and communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders. Candidates need a relevant master’s degree and proficiency in R, Python, SQL, or SAS, with up to two years of prior research experience. The role is fully remote within the United States and involves independent analytical work alongside cross-functional project teams.

Sample interview questions
In my academic or prior research work, I began by refining the research question and assessing whether the available data could answer it. I then helped develop the study design, define cohorts and outcomes, prepare the analytic dataset, run the planned analyses, and summarize limitations and findings for stakeholders.
I would first clarify the target population, exposure, comparator, outcomes, follow-up period, and required covariates. Next, I would profile the candidate data source for population size, coding completeness, longitudinal coverage, missingness, and linkage constraints, then document whether the data can support the proposed design and any recommended adjustments.
I use version-controlled code, preserve clear source-to-output data lineage, and create documented cohort-building and variable-definition steps. I also perform quality checks such as record counts, range checks, duplicate reviews, missingness assessments, and independent validation of key derived variables.
I would begin with the decision-relevant finding in plain language, then explain the magnitude and direction of the result using a simple visual or example. I would clearly distinguish association from causation where appropriate and describe the most important assumptions and limitations without unnecessary statistical jargon.
I break each deliverable into scoped tasks, estimate effort and dependencies, and maintain a prioritized work plan. I communicate early if risks arise, align priorities with the project lead, and provide concise progress updates so the team can make timely decisions.
